Default Latest iPod Touch

Anyone have a new iPod Touch, or one with the latest software update? I got one last month, and I can't get the car to recognize mine. I've previously been using a first gen nano with no problems. I am using a cheap ipod USB cable, so I guess I could try the apple cable and see if that makes a difference.

Anyone having this problem?

My iPhone 3G with software 3.1.2 works fine with my car. A pop-up windows that says unrecognized device appears, but it still works in iPod mode and I can also stream internet radio as well.

Do you mean the pop up appears on the navigation screen? How do you get past that? I don't have navigation, so it just scrolls through on the radio. But then you can scroll through the artists and whatnot after you get that message?

I meant on my iPhone screen. The pop up asks if you want to switch the phone into airplane mode. After I click ignore on the pop up I can play music from the device. I haven't tried using the radio controls to switch songs in iPod mode since I usually stream music using Slacker radio. To navigate with streaming music I need to touch the iPhone screen.

So you can navigate through the iPhone once it's plugged in? Meaning, you can go into your music library and pick songs rather than use the radio to do so? My nano just has a Honda logo appear and locks up so I have to use the radio controls.
Do you have the navigation screen or the radio?
I was researching this further, and it seems like there are a lot of complaints regarding the latest OS and various car brands compatibility. But it sounds like it's specifically the iPod Touch, not the iPhone.

I don't have navi. This is off the top of my head. I will try tonight once I get home from work.

OK so I hooked up the iPhone and the first screen shows the error message. Once I click no I clicked on the iPod icon and then I see the second screen. So to control the music in iPod mode I must use the radio.

If I click the home button I can use any streaming radio app for example. In this case control of any music is via the touchscreen.

Thanks for the photos! Yeah, I don't get that screen at all, though I don't think the touch would have airplane mode anyway. It just shows on the ipod screen battery icon that the iPod is charging for a sec, and then it's not and the error message comes up on the dash.
I called Apple and Honda about it, but they both pointed the finger at each other. I'm going to try to go to an Apple store this week and hope that maybe someone there will admit to knowing about car compatibility issues.

Default Resolved!

It's the cable! You have to use the Apple brand one, not a third party one.

Your touch should have wifi.. so there is an airplane mode by turning off wifi... glad to see it's a cable issue because I was thinking of upgrading my software.
