Default I2 rubber roof strip comes loose after touchless car wash!

I have not been able to find any posts on this subject so here goes. The passenger side rubber 'roof' strip that fills the roof channel on that side is held in place by two metal clasps under each end of the rubber stip. The clasps attach around a small post at each end. My issue is that after going thru a local quality car wash near my home the other day, during or right after going thru the blow drying cycle, I heard a horrible thumping sound on the roof of my car. As soon as I pulled up to the location where your car is hand toweled dry, I got out of the car & noticed the rubber strip had come loose where it attaches at the windshield end & the blow dryer must have forced it loose. The strip was slapping back & forth on the roof of the car. Drivers side roof strip was unaffected by the car wash. I usually hand wash my new car, but with living near Chicago, it's a bit cold for that sort of thing. Once you connect the two end clips to the little post inside the channel, the rest of the rubber strip kindof pops into the channel. I don't know if the strips are suppose to be glued with some kind of adhesive or not, as I've never experienced this before with any car I've owned. I will definitely bring this to the dealer's attention. Driving in heavy rains is not a problem. I'm just greatful that no damage to the roof or windshield was done. Any help or info on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. My previous car they blew off shortly after purchase and I never bothered to replace them.

I am guessing a dot of weatherstrip adheasive will fix it.

Exclamation Simple repair with pliers

My did the same thing on the same side - just take a pair of pliers with you and the next time it's loose, crimp the tight end of the clip so that it has to be forced into place - mine has not come loose since.

I posted about this a while ago. It's funny you posted this today because I just went through the car wash and right after I pulled out a guy pulled up next to me and motioned for me to roll down the window so he could tell me the strips were off. I thanked him and told him it happens every time, and I was just about to pull over to put them back!

I asked my dealership about it, and they said to just reattach them every time.

I have been through a touchless car wash twice in the past month and my roof strips stayed in place - at least now I know how to repair the problem when they do come off.

This is the only thing I have had to have looked at or fixed on my vehicle. Mine also was from going in a carwash and when the car went under the blower it took it right off.

Drivers side strip came off of my car when I went through the tornado like drying cycle at the local car wash... I do like the idea of cementing them down - just seems goofy that there is a 4' strip of rubber held on by two little end clips.

Exclamation Mine too!

I've gone to the Black Dog carwash at least 3 times before and this never happened.

When I pulled out of the stall my right rubber strip was hanging loose.
I just slipped it back in. But it was strange that it came off. Should Honda glue these on better?

They are NOT glued that's the problem - just the clips at the front and back hold them in place.
