Default Early service indicator - uk insight

My insight has currently 8800 (UK) miles done in 1o months and the display tells me that is now due for service. It came down from due in 400 to 200 and then 0 miles in 10 days. I now get the service indicator with minus 18 miles on it with the letters AB. few questions. The Honda garage and service hthe book both advise services every 12000 miles, how comes the service warning comes 3000 miles before. should the car be checked as something might be wrong? I use it to comute, 20 miles each way, mainly motorway, revs rarely go above 2000 and i m getting around 60 mpg;s on every tank. Apart for a cold winter (temp between 0 and -4 celsius) nothing else is worth a mention . I ve booked the service anyway but they can only do it on 29/03 which means i ll be minus 210 miles by then. am i going to have issues with the car warranty because of this? thanks

Default Cold temps and low RPMs decrease oil life ?

Here in the US there is no 'miles to service' display, the display is percent 'oil life' left, and it counts down from 100% to 15% before it indicates service needed, which it displays as 'A1' which means oil change and tire rotation. Mine went off at 6900 miles, which is pretty early compared to others I have read on this forum. I also rarely go above 2K rpm, and the conditions here in Boston are about the same as you are describing, and I'm getting 47-50mpg (56-60 UK). This leads me to think that cold temps, and driving slowly contribute in some way to a faster expiration of the service indicator.

In Germany the inspection is very year or 15000 Km, whichever comes first. The service indicator shows either days to service or KM to service depending upon your usage.

Amusing how each land is different for the same product. What bugs me is that i have no KM/miles switch, which would be so useful when I goto the UK.
