Question help - under panel bracket?

So I was inspecting the under panels beneath my 2000 insight, contemplating doing my own oil change, to find that the under panels were largely bent and broken - the clips holding the panels to the plastic brackets on the L and R sides of the car are broken and it appears to me that the L panel was once bolted to a bracket which was bolted to the L side of the engine block. Am I crazy? Can anyone verify this for me?

I've been trying to identify the parts I need on the Front Fender parts diagram available at many online parts suppliers. I could really use some help with this. I think the L and R black plastic brackets to which the underpanels clip or bolt are numbers 11 and 16 and the bracket which may have been on the L side of the engine block might be numbers 5 & 7, except there are L and R versions of this. I looked and looked for photos of the underpanels and how they are bolted underneath the car but could not verify that there's maybe a bracket missing. Can anybody help me with this?

Thanks!

When I get around to my first oil change, I can take some pictures, but that probably can't happen until early-mid May. In the meantime, you might want to look through Cobb's posts. He posts lots of great photos and maybe some will help you.

Red face Willie's right, I'm crazy.

Thanks for the offer waterdog but Willie's right: I should have said that I have a 2000 1st generation Insight.

Also, in answer to my first question, I believe the answer is that I Am crazy: upon studying the fender parts diagram further, I can't find any bracket coming off of the engine block; I believe the under panel attaches elsewhere. I'll try to sort that out when I have time to actually take it all apart and look more carefully at it. If anyone wants to hold my hand while I do that, please let me know.

I also take the overwhelming lack of response to my post to be confirmation of the "I'm crazy" hypothesis.

Thanks!

Doug

Either that or maybe you can get more help in the I1 forum. The lack of response could be related to other I2 forum readers reading your post closely enough to realize you were asking about an I1.

Willie - thanks for the good advice. I will take it to heart and apologize for any inconvenience my speed reading may have caused you.

It wasn't an inconvenience............just a constructive suggestion.
I've done the same thing at times and will probably do it more as I get older (69 now) .
