Angry GPS BUG FOUND and Not Getting Fixed...

Well I have owned my car (2010 Insight W/ Nav.) and have had a problem since I have bought it. I just now found out after 4 months that this problem is known about and they are not (sure) if they are going to fix it or not.. They said more people that call the more the fix will be possible. I called 800-999-1009 USA Honda Automobile Customer Service in Cali and found out that they know about this and I was very upset.. Well the bug is that if you go into your Nav and choose Menu and then Places and then Name and type out Burger King or Target or Wal-Mart it will not find the one that is closest to you. In Fact it won’t work at all it finds everything from all over the USA. That is not the way it is supposed to be and they know this but haven’t fixed it. They are saying now that the "Work Around" is to go to Menu - Places - Category (hope that you know what the category is) then put in the name and then choose location closest to you. This is way way way longer way of doing it the way it should.. So if you want it fixed as I do then please call them and YELL...

this is why i dont buy cars with navi systems. my LX has no GPS and it was easily remedied by putting a small velcro strip and dropping my samsung i8510 on it with garmin mobile xt. my GPS goes with me, answers phone calls and takes pictures. plus i get updates quarterly. this built in navi in cars from car manufacturers who dont know how to engineer navi systems in the first place is BS. get a navi device if you want to navigate built by a company who is in the business of supplying navigation systems. they know how to build em right.

Honda doesn't actually build the navi systems. I think Pioneer and Alpine have supplied Honda OE navi systems.

I cant speak for the nax, but the oem radios are clarion. I have a garmin and its worse than using a map. It sends me in circles, down roads that dont make sense.

I suggest for people to use a gps as a reference, then visit at least 3 map websites if not use your aaa membership to make sure you do not end up on a fire road or inside an abandoned mine shaft.

I thought oem nav would be great, but decided agsinst it.

COBB speaks the truth.

I use my Navi as a general guide. If i need more specific info, i rely on my Iphone with Google Maps.

Well I think with anything you have to use common sense. I have a Garmin for one of my vehicles that includes traffic updates and I love it. I just ordered a brand new Insight with the navigation.

Ditto for hating the insight navi system (not the ones on pandora). Save yourself the 2K and buy a nice aftermarket system with handsfree bluetooth.
