Anyone else experience odd and erratic locking problems?
When i get out of my car i ususally hit my lock button twice, so my car barks at me to let me know its locked. Lately, i've been hitting that button like i am playing Space Invaders and nothign. No its not a battery. Here is why, 3 of the doors will lock, but the Driver door and hatch wont lock (which happen to be the 2 doors used 95% of the time).
ALSO, when i do get them locked and come back from a days shopping at Costco, i hit the button and all 3 doors will unlock, except the drivers door. THe hatch is iffy at best. Many times it just wont unlock.
Anyone else seeing this?
Bout to take her in for the 16K oil change, so before i perplex the service guys who'll just talk to me like i am nutz, i wanted to see if anyone else has lock problems too.

I had this happen once before where I pressed the lock button and thought it locked but pulled the drivers door handle and it opened but the issue never came back. I got in the car, manually locked and unlocked the door, opened the door, held the door handle as if I was opening it and did the same thing. Stepped outside the car, shut the door and it worked again.
I usually don't make my car beep since I can usually hear the door locks click when I press the button.
I don't know if this will help but it's something to try.
Whoops, sorry, 2nd gen forum, it might still be worth the shot though.
Thanks! I will give it a try. Anything is better than having to explain it to a service writer, who'll then do a cruddy job of explaining it to the repair tech, who'll try it once....and at that moment, my car will work fine, and then they'll assume i am smoking crack! Give it back to me saying its 'fixed', only to have me back in a week madder than hell.
Its doing it more and more often, so hopefully if i have to take it in, it will malfunction for them.

I have an opposite problem, I know the answer must be in the owners manual, I've looked, and keeping overlooking it.
How do I stop the car from auto-locking after getting out of it and closing the door? About 2 to 5 minutes after getting out of the car, it locks all of the doors and hatch, requiring a trip back up the stairs into the house to get the key fob to unlock. I'm pretty sure that nobody is going to steal the OEM radio out of it while I'm washing it in my driveway.

Is that the the security relock timer, page 113 of the manual? If so, it doesn't look like you can disable it:
Quote:
If you unlock the doors with the
remote transmitter, but do not open
any of the doors within 30 seconds,
the doors and the fuel fill door,
automatically relock, and the
security system sets.
You can change this relock time
from 30 seconds to 60 or 90 seconds.
Although the way you describe what you are seeing, it doesn't quite fit, so maybe it's something else...?
This is how mines operate. I am a know it all at work and am frequently stopped as I am about to leave and my car relocks. Once its had a door opened or been driven. The doors or anything will not lock unless you click the switch.
What I think is going on you got to set to unlock the drivers door unpon park or keyoff. I disabled all of that. So its one click all unlock, one click all lock.

How do you disable the function where only the drivers door unlocks when you put the car in park and turn it off. My wife is going nuts always having to manually unlock the door before exiting the car. Those door locks are backwards from other cars we have owned and it is just annoying.
If it can be set so all the doors unlock when you put the car in Park or when you turn it off that would be great.
Welcome IndyTom I see you are new to Insight Central. I would like to offer some advice on forum etiquette, you usually only need a single post of a problem to get an answer. Four spread over different threads is a bit excessive IMO.
