I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem and how I might approach it.
The new OS version 4 for the iPhone dropped yesterday and I installed it as soon as I got home. The upgrade went fine and I fiddled with the new features for a bit before I left for the gym.
When I got in the car (2010 Insight EX with Navi) and plugged in the iPhone via cable to the USB jack, I got an "UNSUPPORTED" message on the USB tab of the Audio screen. Whenwhile, the iPhone informed me that "this device is not supported for the iPhone". Crap. My thinking is that the new iOS version might be more strict in what peripherals it will support.
So I'm left running it through AUX for the short term, but I wonder what might be the best tack to take looking for a fix. Honda (looking for a firmware update perhaps)? Apple? I suspect I'm going to be stuck with them pointing fingers at each other...
I sort of gave up on the USB and started using the AUX lately... the USB didn't charge the phone, I couldn't use the phone through the car speakers, and navigating hundreds of artists or songs with the knob on the dashboard was so slow it was sort of pointless... just seems like having the track displayed on the dash was the only thing it did that the AUX didn't!
I have the same problem. Tried reloading, restoring, re-booting etc, etc. with no resolution. Giving up on this POS (car/phone, take your pick) for a while. I'll see if re-booting again works. Keep those ideas coming.
I tried several things and for me I think, going intro iPod mode and then (while the iPhone was playing a song) hooking up the USB cable did the trick and the car recognized it. After that one time 'sync' it has been working well.
Figured it out. I never load any songs onto my iphone. My iPhone used to work in my insight when I had some HBO sample loaded on. I deleted the sample music and the iPhone wouldn't work with my car anymore. All you need to do is have something loaded onto the phone and that will let the car pick up whatever it is you're playing on the iPhone. It works for any radio applications. You may have to change the channel, but it will come on. Let me know if it worked for you too.
