Default Front license plate mount installation problem - screw holes don't align!

Hello everyone,

I moved from FL to CA and now need to have a license plate on the front and back. I was given a front license plate holding bracket (or whatever it is technically called) without installation instructions.

From what I can tell, there are two metal clips that slip over the front grill. The license plate holder has two screws that screw into these metal clips. The problem is when I hold the license plate bracket up to the metal clips and attempt to align the holes, they don't match up vertically. The holder can't go "high" enough as it runs into another part of the bumper/grill. Has anyone had this problem?

Are there installation instructions that I'm unaware of? Perhaps I'm doing it incorrectly.

Thanks in advance!

It hangs partly over the grill area below and the bumper part. I think I redid mines as it wasnt that secure.

Zip ties would work fine if this is a temp install.

Thanks Cobb, I figured it out. The holes don't alight when the mount is flush to the holes on the grill, but if you tilt the mount slightly downward (top away from the car), they line up fine.

The screws that come with the mount sure don't seem long enough though. I might replace them with longer ones and put bolts on the end in the near future.
