Default Transmission fluid change

I just got an A 2 3 message on my service minder. 2 is oil change which I don't need as I have only 3,500 miles since last oil change. I looked in the manual and the 3 says change transmission fluid. I only have 24,000 miles on my Insight. Does it sound right to change tranny fluid at this mileage? I also wonder if there is a problem with my service minder as it told me I needed an oil change after only 2,000 miles one other time.

The chief engineer of the Insight recommends changing the CVT fluid every 12,500 miles so I would figure you're definitely good to go for a fluid change. Yes the book suggests one thing, the R&D guy another, take your pick: either way, you're due.

Exactly that!
I did mine @ about 12500miles and the plug's magnet was covered in crap.
Whatever your choise, consider changing the CVT filter also (something the manual does not even mention! ).

I have an appointment to get it changed on Friday. I'll ask about the filter.

They'll probably say it's a lifetime filter or needs to be changed around 90-120k miles or something. Total speculation, if you could report back what they suggest that would be cool.

I'd bet that they tell you that the filter is inside the CVT. I did a full report with pictures not long ago. It should give you something to think about.

I changed my CVT fluid at 32,000 miles was this bad? I've always been checking and changing the oil on time. Hell when I looked at the CVT fluid it was still clear color in the recommended hot and cold spot. I previously owned a 97 Honda Civic HX and rarely changed the fluid as much and I got 250,000 miles out of it. I'm pretty busy and do mostly HighWay driving, I never got any reminder on the dash to change it... Was it because I drive the car like a baby?

From what I've read on this site, you should change the cvt fluid at 15k initially and then every 30k thereafter.

post the link to it!

I am wondering myself, I am approaching 60k rapidly and only did it at 30k. My element only recomends in the manual that you change the dif fluid at 30k but honda revisited that and changed it to 15k later.....
