Default Trouble after jumpstart

Yep, I did it, drained my brand new Insight's battery by leaving on the lights. Sigh. Found out about it at the end of the day as I was getting to my car after work. Long story short somebody gave me a jumpstart (through the cigharette lighter, interestingly). I ignited the car, and it turned on, and right away I see these notices on my dashboard saying "Check ABS" "Check VSA" and "Check Brake System".

I had read somewhere in the manual that after a jumpstart you needed to drive the car for 30 minutes in order for the battery to reset or something, so I did just that, and now, with the battery fully charged (based on the dashboard indicator), I'm still seeing these three notices. Any idea what's causing them, and how I can fix/make them go away?

More than likely Low Voltage faults got posted in those systems. Usually faults in those systems won't reset. If not, you'll have to find a shop that has a scanner that can get into those systems-or the dealer, and have the faults cleared.

I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow morning. I'm just afraid that the warranty might not cover this since I jumpstarted the car by an *unusual* method. The dealer is going to charge me ~100 for the diagnostic; if it's covered under warranty than that will cover it but if not than I will have to pay that plus however much the actual fix will cost. :-/

Don't tell them about the "unusual" method........a jump is a jump. I've jumped small engines that way before......You just have to let the starting car run for a while to get some good amperage in the flat battery with no ill effects.

The battery level indicator(not the light) on the dash is not for the 12volt battery which you jumped to start the car that is for the IMA. If the battery was stone cold dead and you jumped it you may not have gotten enough of a charge back into the 12v battery. I would disconnect one of the leads on the 12v battery and then hook up a charger overnight. It takes a very long time to get a 12v battery to a decent charge in comparison to the IMA battery pack. As kjanracing stated your dash indicators could also be "hard" codes which will not reset, or your 12v battery still might be low. This seems to be a system flaw of not having an alternator which at least in my opinion can charge the battery faster then the IMA system.

Well, thankfully it went well at the dealer. Didn't mention the jumpstart, just said I had those 3 lights and the car wouldn't auto-stop anymore. They scanned the system and found Code 81-1, so they cleared it. Everything is fine now

On my invoice it says Code 81-1 Modulator Control Unit. Did a quick web search and says it's related to the VSA and ABS, so it make sense.
