A couple of months ago, I started hearing a squeaking in the steering column area. I am not sure it is related, but it started happening after the dealer plugged one of my tires. They are telling me that they do not remove the tire to plug it, so it can't be related.
The dealer near me has had my car 2 times for over 6 hours each visit and is not able to duplicate the noise. Therefore, they are not doing anything to resolve the issue. I get that the dealer is hesitant to put a fix in place, but the last visit I supplied a video of the squeaking to help.
I was told that they would lube the steering box in an attempt to fix the issue, but 7 hours later, I went to pick my car up and discovered that nothing was done to fix the issue.
My question to the forum is, has anyone experienced a squeaking in the steering column area? The squeak is intermittent and only happens at slow (parking lot) speeds. Usually when I am turning into a spot or backing out.
The dealer says that they checked service bullletins on their side and found a 2011 with the same issue, but no fix was listed.
I called American Honda Customer Service about this and they do not seem interested in helping. Exact quote, "what do you what us to do about it?" That seems unacceptable to me.
Thanks for any insight you can give on this (no pun intended).
Welcome aboard, sorry its under these cirsumstances you visit.
Can you post the video for us to see?
The hybrid system is known to make a dog whistle like sound that "seems" to come from the dash board, but its in fact from the spare tire area in the trunk.

I though dog whistles were beyond the range of the human ear. So if it makes a dog whistle sound, does that mean I can't hear it? jk
I think its just an idiosyncracy of the engrish language. You know how you park in a drive way and drive in a parkway.
I can hear dog whisles and the wall warts that are suppose to repeal pests. Those make a pulsing high pitch nose, like that of a fly back transwformer on a crt.

Thanks for posting the video. It did not sound like anything important. Its likely a bushingI suspect as you drive it will go away. That is not in any way like the nose I was referring to. The noise I was talking about is similar to the fly back transformer on a crt monitor.
