Default Messages???

Got a problem...on start up car idles out of control...up...down. Then I get an engine light "Check Emissions System"....and sometimes get another dash indication "Check Brake System." After all of this the car finally figures it out and runs just fine. Eventually the lights go out but I all happens again soon. Any ideas?

I can not tell from the ipod app if this is the g1 or g2 forum. Either way a bad 12 volt battery is known to give random idiot lights. In the i2 a loose radiator fan plug will give an emissions error. You have 2 fans and 2 connectors.

The brakes can sometimes indicate low fluid. Maybe you can go to an auto store and before you request the radiator pressure tester you can get them to test your battery and check your computer?

Is your car under warranty still, because this + the dissapearing coolant (don't let them tell you "it's normal") sound like all together they are some major issues.

When I use to work at the chrysler dealer it was fairly common to hear a similar story. My car is burning coolant, but I do not see any leaks.

When did it start?

It was right after I loaned my car to a friend. It came back with an empty tank and a funny smell.

Yup, head gasket was leaking.

Where did gilbug1 say he had a coolant loss?

You are slippin Willie.

Been to autozone, lowes, walmart already. Ive spent the afternoon servicing my new suzuki sidekick, 96 model. The transfer case had chips in the oil and it was muddy brown. The tranny was black. The diffs were a light tan. 65 bucks on gear lube, antifreeze and other small parts. Cheapest plugs are 2 bucks each.

Maybe the vehicle has 160 vs just 60 thousand miles?

At least I got what I wanted for my wheelchairs and geo metro to buy it.
