Default USB and XM options disappeared

2010 EX w/Nav - After replacing the 12v battery, the radio now will not display a button for USB or for XM1 or XM2. When I plug the flash drive into the USB port, not only will the radio not recognize it, it won't even display that it won't recognize it. Everything worked fine until I replaced the 12v battery. Has anyone had this problem?

I do not think anyone knows, heck I think you are the second guy to post that you bought one with the Nav option.

I could only suggest either seeing the dealer or redisconnecting the battery and do another reset.

Don't have the NAV, but hope this helps...

Owners manual, Page 382:

Checking the 12 Volt Battery

If your vehicle’s battery is disconnected, or goes dead, the time setting may be lost. To reset the time, see page 254.

If your vehicle’s battery is disconnected or goes dead, the audio system may disable itself. The next time you turn on the radio, you will see ‘‘ENTER CODE’’ in the frequency display. Use the preset buttons to enter the code. (See page 253).

The navigation system will also disable itself. The next time you turn on the ignition switch, the system will require you to enter a PIN before it can be used. Refer to the navigation system manual.
Did the system ever require you to enter PIN after reconnecting battery? If I recall correctly the system will lock you out after a certain number of failed attempts to enter CODE/PIN?

I would try disconnecting the 12V again and reenter all codes.

Rufus, I think you need to realize that the Insight is a very low production vehicle. The numbers of those that have one are very small. Those that went for the NAV option even smaller. Those that visit a forum about them narrows it down even farther. So you cannot expect the response level you might get on a Civic forum for instance.

As to your issue, the obvious thing is the radio code. You do not report if any other functions work. Perhaps you use the usb so exclusively you didn't even try the radio? In any case, a 2 year old vehicle should be under warranty unless it is high mileage. Did you buy it new? Do you have the radio code?

To others who may read this in the future:
You can store the radio code on Honda's Owner Link site.
Dealers have a way to obtain the code either through a VIN look up or by entering secret digits. The parts dept can look up the code with the serial number on the radio itself. (pulling a NAV unit just to get the serial number would be a PITA)
So if you buy new, make sure you keep that radio code card in a safe place you remember. Store it online. Send it in an email to yourself.
If you buy used, make sure you get the radio code!

We did buy the EX-NAVI and went ahead and bought the HondaCare extended warranty mainly because of the NAV system. (although it may come in handy for the IMA as well)

I had Nav and I think the answer is the radio code. However, not enough info was given. And I find that when a users first post is a troubleshooting problem, they seldom discuss the issue, offer help in other areas, or come back to say if the problem got fixed or what finally fixed it.

Thanks guys for the help. I wouldn't have bought the Nav had I not got such an outstanding deal on it. The warranty has expired, as I drive it about 1,000 miles per week. I was prompted to enter the code, which I did, but the options did not come back. I used the USB port almost exclusively before, so I have no clue why I can't use it now. Aside from this issue, I have no complaints about the car. Anyway, thanks for your help.

I see in my owners manual that it has a speech function, meaning you can tell the car to do things through the radio, climate controls and bluetooth.

I believe if you open the screen up to insert a dvd it has a pin hole to stick something to reset it.

Thanks Cobb, do I need to open the door where the GPS DVD goes in to find the reset? I have an owners manual but I don't have the Navigation manual for some reason. I think my girlfriend lost it. Either way, thanks again.

egads, what kind of life are people getting out of the IMA? If that went out I would be in a great deal of trouble. The reason I went with Honda was because I have always heard they have very good reliability.
