Thanks, those are the service bulltins listed for the vehicle. I looked them up on automd.com Interesting that one was released for the insight in Sept regarding the changing of the board in the ima battery when its replaced.

Hello, I posted my experience on another thread, copied below. Just want to re-iterate, there is NO service bulletin, the service guys only find out about the available updates when hooking up the computer to your car.
OK, just had my software updated yesterday. Here is my story.
I'm in the Southern Suburbs of the Twin Cities in MN. I got one of the first Insights off the boat back in the spring of 2009. I called two dealerships, neither knew about the updates, they checked on their computer looking for relevant service bulletins but no joy.
Apparently the only way to find out about the updates is to bring in the car and have them connect up their computer to the car, then presto, the computer informs them that there are 3 software updates available. They will not normally hook up the computer for normal maintenance such as oil change, only if there is a problem or if you specifically request it.
The car is performing much better, a better driving experience. Initial indications are that I picked up 3-4 MPG in my nearly 100% suburban driving, no difference on the hiway. The jerkiness on start from a stoplight is nearly gone. Most importantly, the forced battery charge while going up a hill is no longer there. This was a real pet peeve of mine. The car now behaves like it has a bigger battery also. I drove around randomly yesterday because it was different enough and fun.
The dealer performed the update for free (38,000 miles). He pulled me aside, gave me his card and asked to please let him know the results of the update. He said no one had ever requested it before and he was very interested.
I brought my 2010 EX-Nav in yesterday to the dealership and asked if he would hook up the OBDII to the car to see if there were any updates, he came back a few minutes later and said there were 2 or 3 updates. They had to keep my car overnight for an unrelated problem so we will see today what changes were made.

I brought my 2010 Insight (July 2009 build date) in to my my local dealer for updates on Tuesday this week and they installed 3 updates for a price of $87. (I think Honda should be paying for these updates, but given that they are not, I think the dealer charge was reasonable).
On my work order they did not list the part numbers, but did list software updates for the PGM-FI, A/T, and IMA battery.
The car runs much better now. The tendency to lurch at low speeds seems to be gone, I no longer get strong regens going up hills (I now get either very slight or no regen when it decided to stop assisting), and in general the power delivery seems smoother, as though the car got smarter about how and when to use or replace the electric power.
This is how it should be been at delivery. I had been starting to think about trading in for something else because of the poor driving experience, but with these upgrades I am back to being satisfied with my Insight. Honda should be encouraging all Insight owners to get these upgrades.
I can't tell yet whether the mpg changed. My suspicion so far is that if there are any improvements, they are minor. The change in drivability, however, is major.

I wonder if in that case I have the update after all? Ive had a negative recal where it regens going up hill or load, but it seems more selective and will actually stop regen and assist for a few, then do nothing, then go back to regen.
My benchmark for unwanted regen is a hill on my commute home. For the past several years the car has lost assist and gone into regen, often quite heavy, on my way up the hill, regardless of the charge level at the base of the hill.
I have gone up this hill twice since getting the updates. The first time, after I ran out of assist the needle dipped very slightly into regen and then settled at what appeared to be neutral (it could have been very very slightly into regen, since I imagine some continued electricity generation is needed). Today I had assist all the way up the hill - the first time that has happened in probably at least 100 times going up that hill in my Insight. Something is clearly very different, and much better, after the software updates.

just had mine updated. It is great. I have the same results as waterdog. Now my 2010 behaves more like my wife's 2011, which I really like.
"Smarter use of the IMA" is good description.
I had the dealer install the three available software updates yesterday. Noticed two things right away: 1. The jerkiness from the CVT is gone. 2. The autostop feature engages much smoother and happens around 6 mph instead of the usual 11 mph. No charge from the dealer.
Let me ask you guys how it effects auto stop. Does auto stop seem to work all the time, is it still hit or miss? Does it sometimes last a second, vs infinite?
I like to think I have the update as it seems without my phev kit on and when I go up hill it will interrupt charging with even slight throttle, with more it will asssit, then return to charging as described here.
I dont believe I had my car updated, however it was in the shop and plugged into their system when I had my tpms light reset. I dont know if they snuck in an update then or if it was a different computer?
It seems auto stop is even more of a mystery than before on when it will and wont.
If the software updates had any impact on auto stop it was subtle compared to the other changes.
For me, auto stop is pretty predictable and reliable when the climate control is completely off, but not so when the climate control is on. While I wish Honda had used a larger battery and an electric AC, given that they didn't I understand the need to let the climate requests override autostop. Basically, my view with respect to this car as built is that if you want consistent auto stop, don't ask for a constant temperature in the car.
