The 2016 Honda Civic is the Civic You’ve Been Waiting For
Sep 17, 2015 - 12:46 PM - by

The 9th generation Civic never really seemed to get it right.

Class average rather than a class leader, the 2012-2015 seemed to have lost some of that Mojo Honda compacts are world famous for.

Well, for 2016 it appears that the Civic is back. Rebuilt from the ground up the new 10th generation Civic is nothing like last year’s model.

Honda claims this is the biggest complete redesign the Civic has ever received. The goal with the 10thgeneration car is to recapture some of the sporty character the Civic used to be known for, but was lacking in the last generation. It’s two inches wider and one inch lower, built on a 1.2-inch longer wheelbase.

The new look has a lot of 2016 Accord up front and a blend of Insight, Crosstour and FCV Clarity in the back. Sitting ahead of the large front fender flares are available LED headlights, much like Acura’s jewel eyes. As well, LED daytime running lights and LED taillights are standard.

Honda Project 2&4 Concept is Just as Awesome as You Hoped
Sep 16, 2015 - 10:45 AM - by

Trying to remind us that it’s not all about family sedans, Earth Dreams, Magic Seats and crossovers, Honda has pulled the wraps off its wild Project 2&4 Concept, an open-air vehicle that combines a motorcycle with a car.

The Project 2&4 Concept made its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it has a car chassis but is powered by a 999-cc V4 engine lifted from a superbike that revs to 14,000 rpm. Take a second to take in how epic that is.

That engine pumps out 215 hp and 87 lb-ft of torque and power makes it to the ground via a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The engine is mounted mid-ship, which helps give the concept a low center of gravity and fantastic responsiveness.

As Honda’s answer to something like the KTM X-Bow, the car has a floating seat and doesn’t have a cabin or windshield. More importantly, it weighs just 893 pounds, so chances are this thing will drive like a go-kart on steroids. It’s only 120 inches long, 72 wide and 39 high.

This concept is the result of an annual global Honda contest that encourages its design teams to go wild.

There’s very little chance that this concept will ever make it to production, but that doesn’t stop us from really, really wanting

2016 Honda CR-Z Gets a Facelift, Probably Still Won’t Sell
Aug 27, 2015 - 10:39 AM - by

Honda has given its low-volume CR-Z 'sport hybrid' hatchback a mid-cycle refresh for the 2016 model year in the Japanese market.

The upgrades are mostly cosmetic, with the front-wheel-drive hatchback getting a more sculpted front and back-end. The front grille loses its smiley-face look and goes for a more angular octagonal shape and the fog lights have also been made bigger. The wheel arches at all four corners have also been pushed out, giving the CR-Z a more aggressive stance. New wheels, bigger brakes, a few suspension tweaks, and a a few new colours are also on offer.

Unfortunately, the powertrain doesn’t get any of the upgrades that CR-Z fans have been asking for. It will continue to be powered by the same 1.5L gas engine and an electric motor to give a combined 130 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque with the six-speed manual transmission and 127 lb-ft with the CVT.

The 2016 CR-Z coming to America will likely get most of the same cosmetic tweaks as the JDM model, with the exception of the new LED headlights, which will be cut to help keep costs low.

The 2016 Honda CR-Z will go on sale in Japan on October 19 and be available in the U.S. shortly after. Honda sold only 3,562 CR-Z units last
