Default UK eBay 2001, 101,000 miles

No connection with seller, but this has a new (Honda re-furb?) IMA pack in 2012, a new clutch, but photos with incorrect white balance don't help judge the condition.

How much do we think this will this go for 4.5k ?

Yup, I am the lucky lad. I went to see it yesterday in Poole. It is a cracking car in really excellent condition and much, much 'sharper' than the pictures indicate.

The new battery pack was supplied and fitted by Honda just over 2 years ago. It has new Eco tyres on the front and the rears are not showing any wear that I can detect. It has a recent new clutch and a long MOT - tax is free on this model year of course.

There are some minor scratches on the wing mirrors and a small scrape on the o/s front bumper. There is a slight indentation over the o/s wheel arch and a 15mm parch of bubbling paint on the bonnet. All of these can be easily sorted by a visit from a mobile bodywork specialist for not too much dosh I suspect.

The front wheel rims are curbed so I will need to sort that out, again an easy and not expensive job. Finally, the air-con needs a regas which is being done next week as part of the overall deal.

This car is just so right that I am quite taken aback - I have lusted after a Gen 1 Insight since I first saw one outside dealership. But I have never sat in one so am quite amazed at how easily it accommodates my 6ft 3in frame. Wonderful. Roll on next week.

Default When do you collect ?

Have you got it yet or is the clock still running slow ?

Re the A/C re-gas, my car will no longer engage the A/C compressor which I presume is due to a low system pressure interlock. Did your car exhibit the same symptoms ?

Some pointers for you below that I've posted before...

1. If you haven't already got one, set aside some cash for one of Peter's OBDIIC&C readers. The lean burn LED makes your quest for better economy much easier, and the other features will really help you get the most out of your Insight experience.
2. Either build or buy (Peter again) a grid charger to keep the IMA battery in tip-top health.
3. Get your tyres pumped up to the safe limit marked on the tyre wall.
4. Make yourself a radiator block to help reduce warm times outside of summer. Be sure to remove it in the summer, or at speed any time of the year. Best not to fit one of these until you have an OBDIIC&C reader as the dash temperature reading is as much use as a chocolate teapot.
5. When it is serviced, insist on genuine Honda Green Engine Oil, anything else will hit your mpg.
6. If you aren't already known as one, get used to being classed as a car bore, droning on about mpg and hyper-miling.
7. Keep researching on here, there is a vast pool of knowledge and support, so tap into it.
8. Enjoy. A lot.

I picked it up on Tuesday from the owners home in Poole and drove it straight back to Chichester. So my initial impressions after a few days of ownership.

Firstly, the journey from Poole to Chichester was in heavy to fast M or A roads with the aircon full on. I avearged 72mpg which pleased me no end. The lifetime average for the car is 63mpg.

I fine the visibility much better than expected and the driver's seat is super comfortable for my large frames 6ft 3in. The clutch/gearbox relationship took some getting used to as I found the throws on the gear lever much closer than I imagined. All well though once my left foot memory kicked in.

Everything seems to work brilliantly and the car is just so much of a piece. For a 13 year old x 100,00 mile car, there is not a rattle or squeak - amazing. I find the handling much much better than I was expecting and the turn-in is great, so sharp.

I have booked it in to my local bodyshop for some fettling and to have the wheels (kerbed and a bit tatty) refurbished. I am also very, very surprised at the attention this car attracts - young and old are fascinated by the shape and few know what it is.

As I get more used to it, I will report again and post pictures when refurbed.
