Why Used Electric Car Batteries Could Be Crucial To A Clean Energy Future | ThinkProgress

My concern comes from what is now old info. Has it changed that the estimated world reserves of lithium are minuscule compared to what would be needed to switch effectively all/most cars to batteries? Is the downward cost trend applicable to NiMH ?

Lithium is present in soils across the world, the issue is with extraction, also the amount of lithium needed for a given capacity has gone down over time.

As we have gone on, we have gotten better at extracting lithium.

Likewise there are many other battery types possible, including sodium, magnesium, calcium and others.
