Default How far in an Insight ?

Interesting article about a guy in San Antonio and the Stirling Engine. Expecting to exceed 100 mpg. TX A&M is backing him.

Can only imagine what an Insight could do with such a set-up.

Stirling engines are efficient, but the power density is sooooo low. Even using a battery pack for pulse discharges (acceleration), I can't imagine he's getting more than a couple kw from one sized to fit a car (and have room for any cargo).

My guess is he's basically built a plugin electric car with a gas range extender that has to run all the time to slow the discharge rate, but doesn't actually keep up with the needed output.
