Default Eco mods in a 2010 Insight LX

Hey everyone,

I just bought a used Insight LX with 40K miles on it. I was able to score this car for under 10K. It's in almost perfect condition with a clean car fax. I am very happy with it thus far.

After browsing the forum, I see that there are different eco mods that can be done to the vehicle to improve my MPG. My question is, what are they?

I have also been considering in adding a Rostra kit for cruise control. Any suggestions on that as well?

Welcome aboard and great score. There are tons of them you can do and they for the most part are quite universal to non hybrid cars.

A few include the following:

Grill blocking
Lowering
Switching lights to LED and HID
Disabiling DRLs.
Using econ and cruse control
Using pulse n glide technique
Pre charge your 12 volt battery before trips.
Add a PHEV kit to your ima system
use 0w20 oil when changing your engine oil
Tinging windows to less ac need
rully inflate tires to sidewall psi
if you buy new tires lookfor LLR and get oem size
Some say to remove the front license plate bracket or flip it upside down to partly block lower grill
Remove excess un-needed items from car
Combine trips, take routes with right turns and 45 mph speed limits

Can you explain some more the first four you mentioned and the potential impact?

The second 2 reduce power drained from the car, the first 2 make it easier to slip through the air.

Just remove the fuse near you knee. It's a 7.5 amp fuse if I remember. The panel lists it and shows its exact location.
