Default Trick to keep Ima lite out

Lately I've been getting the Ima lite on and been having to reset the 12 volt battery only to see it pop back on in less than 5 mins,now I do have a harness and Genesis 1 charger on car.

But to temporarily keep the Ima off ,I unhook the 12 volt battery overnite,rehook in morning and let the car charge the Ima by running 3500 rpms til I get about 4 bars than it shoots up to top.

You can tell by the rpm change when it's done,than drive the car normal to work, pull into a parking spot and let it go into auto stop,set brake, let it sit in discharge state,for about an hour, mine took about 40 mins than the 12 battery will be lit and all the bars be gone.
I like to run it down about 15 mins after I see the battery 12 volt lite on.

Than get in car and just push in the clutch and the car will start to idle up,hear I don't run it to 3500 rpm I just let it idle til it reaches about 4 to 5 bars,I've gained two bars plus been running 2 days pushing on the Ima battery and no Ima lites in sight.

This Is just a temporary fix but could help keep it out for those without a charger or facing emissions test soon,do at your own risk,am sure Keith,and others will disagree on this method but if your at the end of the road it's worth a shot.

I should disagree with you just because you said I would. But then that would be like you telling me what to do, and then I would NOT disagree with you just on principle.

Seriously though, aside from killing your mileage with the 3500rpm forced charge, the heat and stress from that and just the unpleasant sensation of running a little 1.0L at 3500rpm while not moving, should be fine.

I have a HCH1 at the moment that responds somewhat to this type of shenanigans, though it's just easier to continually clear the codes, even if none exist, while driving, which essentially forces the car into a recalibration. Hurts mileage a little, but not so much when I do it at 45mph on surface streets. Not sure if the G1 responds the same. I should try it on my wife's '05, but I'll forget right after I submit.
