Ack! I guess that's why I hadn't gotten a PM.... :) I did not see an email, but will double check all my folders. I also didn't see your replies; I wish this new format notified you about every new post. Maybe that's a setting somewhere.
  2. Mileage dropped nearly 10 mpg with new tires (non-OEM)

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
 Sam is well aware of what tire size is. Have you ever driven an Insight with the wrong tires on it? I say you prove that Amanda's new tires didn't lower her fuel economy by 10MPG. They're probably also only inflated to ~33PSI. That'll do it.
  3. Mileage dropped nearly 10 mpg with new tires (non-OEM)

If nothing else changed, then I would say it is highly likely. Also, since when are RE92s $175 each? I guess I need to keep up with the times, we just sold our last set for $90/tire.....

:cry: PM me please, we'll get you back on the road.
  5. How long do RE92s last?

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
Guess I missed this one back in the day. I get 36k out of fronts, 72k out of rears. No rotation.
  6. Grid Charging Question.

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
Hmm. 10V eh? Scary ;) 183V is getting up there, you may have some high IR going on, but isn't completely unreasonable. Higher ambient temperatures will actually decrease the peak pack voltage seen due to the lowering of IR that comes with high temps. So after doing this and then driving 3...
  7. Grid Charging Question.

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
Yeah, I was kinda assuming that for whatever reason, recals weren't showing up during his regular driving patterns. But if you are experiencing them, they are a good metric to use for any improvement, especially if your driving routine is.. routine. I was also assuming that this was a dumb...
  8. Grid Charging Question.

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
Hmm. Tough one. I wouldn't necessarily wait until the light comes on each time to grid charge. The rule of thumb has always kinda been every 3-6 months on otherwise functioning packs. Since we know the battery is on the weaker side of strong, it would probably be OK and even wise to grid...
  9. Stick pair voltage display.

    Modifications and Technical Issues
The antenna goes to a 433MHz serial transceiver. That hacked up BCM was to cycle packs on the bench, so it controlled the fan and contactor too. Unfortunately, I connected a pack with the "PTC circuit is at pack voltage" problem and it cooked it, long ago now. Never did build another one...
  10. Stick pair voltage display.

    Modifications and Technical Issues
The "green modules" are clocked at 20 cycles per second, IIRC. I don't remember all the details anymore...... lol... That's what I used, a Mega. It's weird, my old posts that should have pictures don't have the links in them when I edit. So I can't update the links, I don't know which pictures...
  11. 2000 Honda Insight Coolant Temp Sensor

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
Where did you remove it from on the engine? The oil pressure sensor lives down on the front of the block. The coolant temperature sensor lives in the mess of water pump/thermostat stuff. Since the drawing of the coolant temperature sensor looks like the one you have in the second pic, I'm...
  12. Had G1 2000 for 9 months, just got IMA 77 and CEL 69

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
Sorry for any confusion, but the time should be stopped when the 6 bars of regen go away, causing RPMs to shoot up. The time it takes for the gauge to fill up after regen stops doesn't count. So, we'll assume 2 minutes at between 16 and 20A. That's somewhere between 533 and 666mAh, a worst case...
  13. Just got a 70k mi 2001 w/ CVT, have a few questions

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
Welcome to the club. :) No - the factory warranty was 100k miles or 10 years. So it expired in 2011. IMO, if the stutter doesn't bother you, it isn't anything to worry about. If it does, I would do the burnishing procedure on old fluid first to see if it makes any difference, then change the...
  14. Manual Transmission Noise Insight 1st gen

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
Hmm. Guess I've not encountered "first gear growl"?! ISB is easy to diagnose though. If you hear the racket in first, you should also hear it in neutral with the clutch engaged. If you don't, it's something else. I drove about 10k on my bad ISB between "Hmm... that's a pecuilar noise" and...
  15. Had G1 2000 for 9 months, just got IMA 77 and CEL 69

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
I'd love to be shown otherwise, but I'm of the belief that there is no such thing on the Insight. ECU stuff is the same the moment after a reset as it is at any other time. Or maybe I've misunderstood the question?

Definitely made me smile reading that. I hope his battery is still going strong! I've reached out to him, but haven't heard back. If you're reading this Calvin, check your spam folder. :) I've been dying to know whether our battery is the 2nd or 3rd the article talks about; I hope 3rd! And...
  18. Quick (I hope) IMA/12v/fuse question

    Problems and Troubleshooting
I did, and commented in the thread regarding looking at things on our end. It isn't really possible to have the battery installed improperly; you would have error codes indicating the problem. Slow to rise is a good thing overall; the longer it takes to charge the battery, the better: Amps *...
  19. Battery + Brake Light but IMA working?

    Problems and Troubleshooting
If the IMA battery voltage falls below the DC-DC's minimum voltage, the DC-DC will be shut off. That's all there is to it. Same reason for the battery light when you go over 4500RPM with the IMA battery disabled - except that's due to exceeding the DC-DC's maximum voltage. I don't think Honda...
  20. Questions for BB

    Bumblebee Batteries
Batteries, you mean? Of course. As far as grid charging.. that's a tough one. It helps some people, others it may not help so much. There are a lot of variables, difficult to recommend 'one size fits all'. If you have one, you may as well use it though. Still recommend every ~3-6mo.
