That definitely does not look right, maybe they revised the size somewhat, I'll post a pic tomorrow when I'm with my car again; it is supposed to be snug but that's ridiculous!

I live in texas, so i scored x's in the tint, sprayed ammonia on them, then pressed a black garbage bag against the inside glass. after a couple hours I was able to peel off all the old tint using a hair driver, a lot of patience, and ultimately a scotch brite pad with more ammonia and, of...
  3. GPS Mount Solutions

    Modifications and Technical Issues
RAM + Proclip all the way every day I've used a ProClip (blocks the vent, but great placement and firm hold) in all my cars and love it. It's nice to have the AC blowing on the device in the hot sun, honestly. Model 853309 fits our cars. Then I add a RAM mount (made in USA, extremely high...
  4. New Rear View Mirror Options

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
FYI, the mount is not unique to the Insight, it is shared with the S2000, the NSX, and (some?) EG Civics. I have not been able to find a suitable adapter for it, Gentex don't make one It is possible to widen the regular Honda/Subaru adapter's (H501SSA041) opening to fit around our weird...
  5. Sound Dampening for Road Noise

    Modifications and Technical Issues
I wish I would have taken pictures as I went along... but i snapped the garnish off this morning and snapped a shot at a traffic light. I basically just removed the garnish, pulled the wires back, stuck the straw of an expanding foam can in there, and let fly. I tried to fill as much space as I...
  6. Sound Dampening for Road Noise

    Modifications and Technical Issues
I'm not sure about others, but I am very happy with my sound deadening project. I installed some super thick off-brand dynamat material in 2009 along with some 1/4 inch closed-cell foam over the whole floor, including the spare tire well and firewall. I stuffed some polyfill into the rear...
  7. WTB: Rear Bumper Cover (Prefer Red)

    Buy/Sell Insight-Related Items
Looking for a rear bumper cover, I'm tired or driving around ghetto-style after the accident. I'd prefer a Formula Red one, but I guess I could rattle can any cover close enough and still be an improvement over what I have now. I'm in Houston and will drive anywhere from El Paso to Tulsa to New...

Do you still have any parts? I need a bumper cover and would love a hatch, but don't need it per se. Can't seem to find a darn bumper cover any closer to me here in Houston.

  11. Has anybody put a subwoofer in the 'trunk'?

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
Not the rear, but I snagged a Kenwood slim 8in sub and put it under the passenger seat. Fits like a glove and adds a nice low-end to everything. Doesn't shake the car next to me, but does fill out the sound well. It helps that I have a really nice head unit with built-in crossovers and the...
  12. Seats are Awful

    Honda Insight Forum 1st-Gen Discussion
We just finished a 5,000+ mile 31-state road trip in two weeks, and can report no serious discomfort after replacing the seat foam in the driver's seat. I do think that after 15 years the foam had compressed and degraded (it was flaking off when I brushed it with the cover off), and the newer...
  13. Security system and keyfob variants

    Problems and Troubleshooting
Ok, I took the darn thing apart and took some pictures. The FCC ID on my working alarm fob is A269ZUA101 The P/N is 08E61-S01-1M0-01 It was made in Japan. Button three (SW3) is labeled "TRUNK," but on the remote cover it's called "Option." Pressing it does not pop the trunk but pressing...
  14. Fuel Pressure Test - How To

    Problems and Troubleshooting
I got both the gauges off Amazon, the OTC one didn't have the schrader T in the kit. It works fine for vehicles with a schrader valve already installed.
  15. Fuel Pressure Test - How To

    Problems and Troubleshooting
    8) Turn off the engine, place the fuel pressure tester's drain tube into a can or drain pan to collect the fuel, and depress the drain valve on the side of your tester. Fuel will dribble out, once it stops disconnect the gauge. 9) Reverse the process of hooking up your test equipment. Pry open...
  16. Fuel Pressure Test - How To

    Problems and Troubleshooting
    3) Attach the fuel pressure gauge (I have used the model pictured and the OTC) by screwing the gauge end onto the schrader valve. 4) Remove the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator and clamp off the vacuum line. Start the car. 4a) IF the car doesn't start, make sure the fuel pump...
  17. Fuel Pressure Test - How To

    Problems and Troubleshooting
For starters, there are two ways to test the fuel pressure, and I used a method NOT described in the FSM. There is a special Honda part, 90201-P0A-003 BOLT, FUEL PRESSURE CHECK that's $10 from G1Parts. I'm not too cheap for the bolt, I just didn't have it and didn't want to wait for it to...
  18. Engine Compression Testing

    Modifications and Technical Issues
Just ran a stone-cold test today on my 292,000mi car with the herky jerkies. Cyl1-Dry: 235 Cyl1-Wet: 245 Cyl2-Dry: 225 Cyl2-Wet 230 Cyl3-Dry: 235 Cyl3-Wet: 265 So I don't think compression is the cause of the herkie jerkies. :) Fun fact: you do WOT for two reasons: 1) It opens the throttle...
  19. Diagnosing herky jerkies, OBDII/OBD2 port broken?

Thanks, biododge. As I feared it made no difference. I have a CEL again though, so there's that. :)
  20. Diagnosing herky jerkies, OBDII/OBD2 port broken?

    Problems and Troubleshooting
I had the injectors of an undetermined age tested, cleaned, and refurbished. The results on paper don't seem overwhelming, but I'll take it for a drive and check back. I have to find my voltage tester, I think it's buried somewhere. Might be a weekend project to keep diagnosing the OBDII...
