Just wondering how many people have the 1) Extended Warranty and 2) What other cars have you owned

I bought mine with 60K miles; Honda Certified and I purchased the extended warranty. Best choice I have made with any car purchase.

Well....this is my first car that I bought! However the first car I drove was a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.7L V8, $$$$$$ on gas!

I bought mine new in June of 2000, and bought an extended warranty that runs to 75,000 miles (so, in about a month I'll out of warranty as I'm at about 73,500 miles as of today).

Lets see, here's the list of other cars I've owned, from first car to most recent before the Insight:

1985 Subaru GL 4-door, 1.7L H4
1990 Toyota 4x2 pickup, 2.3L I4
1991 Nissan 4x2 Hardbody pickup, 2.4L I4 (I swear, this truck was indestructible, I traded it in at 160K miles, it still had the original clutch, I had the truck more than four years, spent very little money on repairs, or even general maintenance really)
1995 Honda Civic EX coupe 1.6L I4

I love my Insight, but that Nissan truck was just awesome. Fast, that 2.4L inline 4 was a beast of a motor, really pulled hard. I had the truck when I was in college and my favorite sport was dusting off guys in their Escort GT's that thought they were tough, my Nissan would dust'em every time (I think the 0-60 on that truck was like 7.1 seconds, that model was the fastest compact pickup sold at the time). Got about 35mpg on the highway, not too shabby really. Other than the paint that was flaking and discoloring, that truck was incredible. Mechnically, even though I drove it hard every day for the four plus years I had it, it never let me down once. I honed my skills driving a stick in that truck, learned how to bump start a manual in that truck the hard way (battery went dead, couldn't afford a new one, so for about two weeks, every where I went I'd park on a hill facing down so I could just put the truck in neutral, get rolling, pop it in gear, and off I'd go!

I had a 1998 Subaru Legacy GT I bought used and later sold to my dad when I bought my 2000 Insight used in the spring of 2003.
The Insight came with extended warranty that previous owner bought, but I never had to use it even after 30+ days of auto-x racing and several track lapping days.

Subaru is awesome, reliable and strong.
I hope to buy a used STI in the future when I eventually need a 4 door family sedan

My 1980 Prelude came with a 9 month waranty if I recall correctly. Honda replaced the front CV joints for free when the car was about 3 years old and when the car was 8 years old a spring failed on a rear shock and Honda relaced the entire suspension (1600 dollars worth) for free. I used to joke that my suspension was worth more than the car! I kept it for another 5 years and sold it. Naturally when it came time to buy a new car I bought a Honda. The next car I bought almost new, a 1990 CRX which I still own. The original owner had purchased a 6 year 3rd party warranty though Honda. Even though the car was transfered and the insurer went out of buisnes Honda honoured the warranty, replacing the muffler system from the cat back, and one month before the warranty expired relacing the radiator and alternator. Total value, 2,800 dollars. Needless to say I bought another Honda, my Insight! This time I purchased the extended 7 year warranty for 1,500 dollars. Perhaps I won't need it. :D

We got the extended warrenty just because our Insight is an '00 and we were not sure about the reliability. We've never had an extended warrenty on any other car. We owned (parents) an old Fiat 1/9 (more vertical miles than horizontal), Datsun, a couple Civics (no real problems), Prelude (sunroof leaked), Chrysler Town and Country (still have it, torque converter died at 110k : ( ), and a MINI Cooper S (30k miles, a few hundred k to go, no problems : ))))). I think my parents are going to drive the Insight into the ground as the mileage is so high. We already broke even with the battery. The MINI will be mine within a year as they are going to get another and get rid of that van.

Don't have the extended warranty on my Insight. Mostly cause I bought my Insight brand new. I used my regular warranty to fix all of the issues I had, got my value out of it. I'm not too worried about the IMA pack failing yet. My first new car purchase. :D

I've owned an 1988 Nissan pick-up (no warranty), 1965 VW bus (no warranty), 1967 VW squareback (no warranty) and a 1960 Porsche 356 Super 90 (no warranty). All of which ran and operated quite nicely, I just got tired of wrenching on them cos no-one works on those old clunkers, well except the Nissan. Also, I really, really, really hate fixing rust.

well...

'89-'93: 1982 Honda Prelude 5-speed, used, inherited from my father, who also bought it used. I don't know what he was thinking when he bought it, but during my tenure I found a remanufactured sticker on the engine and a mishap my uncle had revealed extensive putty in the rear end. The engine would mysteriously cut out on the freeway, it needed a lot of routine maintenance between 70,000-80,000 miles. But the sunroof didn't leak and it was the perfect high school car. Parked most of 1992 while I was in college. I totalled it in 1993 with 147,000 miles on the odometer.

'95-'99 Toyota Tercel, purchased new. Other than going through three windshields and a headlight under warranty, no unusual problems. It was barebones except for air conditioning, but I loved it. Totalled it behind a stopped vehicle on the freeway with only 43,700 miles.

'99-'04 Toyota Celica. Fun car, hauled two house doors in the hatchback. Waxed it every two weeks and got great trade-in value at 64,800 miles. Bought it used with 21,000 miles and an extended certification warranty. Other than having an aftermarket alarm removed, never exercised the warranty.

The Insight, just about two months now. I love driving it but am still paranoid about not being seen by Lincoln Navigators three times as far off the ground as I am. It's certified, but was listed that way so I wouldn't pay extra for it. The car was only fifteen months old with less than 12,000 miles so I didn't buy an extension on the warranty, either.
