Went for a quick trip to the store tonight, about 5 miles each way. As I arrived back at the house I opened the trip meter just to see how I was doing on mileage and was shocked to see this!

Pflinker,

Thanks for the new thread. Don't mean to doubt you but is that even possible...I mean...199 mpg? Maybe the calculations got screwed up and it was closer to 99 mpg. I mean...to do 199...you would have to have a PERFECT ride. For the first couple miles of any ride, the battery is cold and so the car already typically starts with less than 50 mpg until it gets "warmed up". So I don't know how you could get 199 unless you were on a complete downhill run???

Interesting.

I don't know how he did it, if not a glitch in the car's S/W. There is a glitch in the Gen1 S/W which occasionally causes the FCD to lock onto 150MPG. In very rare cases it can happen when one is using key-off FAS.

The resolution of the picture is rather poor when magnified, but that blue bar isn't labeled as "mpg." The last letter looks like a "v." Not sure what display he is in.

Oops!

You're both right. I was rethinking this and I actually did make a stop and turn off the car on the way home so the prior trip that it is showing was actually only about 1/2 mile. Pulled out of my parking space on to the road heading downhill and stopped at the bottom.

Still it was really cool when I saw it.

Sorry

We can dream! Someday, once technology allows, 199.9 will be on the low side! For now, all we can do is put it in ECO, drive on eggshells and not be in a hurry to get anywhere. Tops, that'll be good for +/- 60 mpg unless everywhere you go is downhill (not possible). Still, it's always cool to see a high number. Best accuracy would be to set your 'B' gauge to reset upon fill-up. Individual trips are cool and all, but the tankful is where the real results are. That said, 55.9 isn't bad either!

I was hoping it would show infinity mpg if it only ran on electric :) I have also achieved this a few times, but in all cases the car was already warmed up from a recent drive and was a quick run over to Giant Eagle which is less than a half mile from my house staying under 25mph.
