The car was purchased from a fellow board member and local friend who like me is an Insight and S2K owner. I purchased it with the intent to build it for sale, but ended up pushing my skills and knowledge to the limits and going for absolute Perfection. I have 2 insights but this one is my pride and joy, I hold it to the same level of Build Quality as my S2K but its faster and more practical, recording 31mpg average on the scanguage2.

It doesn't get much attention until u pop the Hood, which is great for car shows. Unfortunately the rest of the world has little respect for our cherished Hondas and I know all too well that Ksights are just too fast for the rest of the world. Which is why I have taken 3 iterations in developing my Tigerroad LED Headlights, bright enough to be used as Daytime Runners. They include Morimoto Switchback strips and a Switch back Bulb with a resistor to eliminate LED hyperflashing. They Illuminate bright and switch to flashing amber like a high end Modern cars, giving the profile and impression of newer Honda 10th gen civic and 2019 Insight headlights from afar. Linked to the small LED side markers for extra safety, right beside the Honda Motorcycle Wings logo, because this is literally a 4wheeled big bike! After leaving other motorist behind, the low mounted LED F1 brake light looks perfectly stock and illuminates when the running lights are on, then flashing when the brakes are pressed to alert slow reaction drivers. Brakes on this car are perfect, not only are the fronts strong but the rear drums have been consistantly maintained by the dealer thanks to the previous little old lady owner.

The ride on the car is Energetic yet supple, more like a sports car, its not as soft or limp feeling as the stock insight nor will it ever bottom out like OEM; but put in 2nd and the 205's will hang a corner flatter than ud ever expect, put ur foot down and the car will pull like a rocket. The steering is still light thanks to the stock front dampers but will give u visually noticable torque steer and roast the passenger front tire if ur not careful. Driven normally, the car has very forgiving understeer and plenty of spring to hunker down during its teleportation-like acceleration.

The Engine was supposed to just be a stock K20A3 RSX base engine but, well Life happens, and when Ebay supplies u a crap motor, u take ur trusted and true tuned engine to make sweet lemonade... The engine was actually from another fellow member on here whom i purchased his Salvaged Ksight to build my first Kswapped Insight. Since then, Ive had a Stock TSX engine laying around and went for an easy extra 40hp by adding Vtec. Email tuned Extensively by Innovative Motorworks over a month of datalogging and slowly and meticulously mapping the power until every ounce of reliability and Redline Realized. The TSX cams are the most aggressive OEM cams on any Kseries engine, and just throwing Vtec onto a iVtec engine will not even run, so u need a tuner who is familiar with the Vtec Killer set up. The result is a car that always starts all year around; and a Vicious Racecar lumpy idle, which locks the exhaust Lobes in 100% Vtec while the intake Fully opens up to Vtec at 4500 in a smooth Trumpeting Symphony thanks to the cold air intake. The Tigerroad TCT is ported for extra oil flow with a slightly stiffened chain and stopping point just enough to install it; virtually eliminating chain slap.

more info continued

continued from above-

When I first got the car, I didnt even drive it, started it and drove it directly into the garage to begin its journey to the perfect and full realization of build prowess u read about now. I still havent detailed it, but taking it to Cars&Coffee and tuner car meets, "Clean" is a word everyone uses to describe it. That clean look extends itself inside to the interior where the seats may look ordinary but have been modified to sit lower and hold tighter by reducing the stiff and boxy stock foam. 5out of 5 ppl do find them to be more comfortable and the absence of the foul foam allows for heating elements and cooling fans to be installed into the bottom and backs of the seats. They are simply controlled via a single switch, up to increase temperature (heat), and down to decrease temperature (fans). The OEM extends to the shift box which is stock but modified for the extra movement of the reverse gear which triggers a perfect rearview Camera via the dash cam mirror. The Gauges are stock insight with a Yellow Jacket Speedo corrector, calibrated to accuracy within 1mph. the RPM is a bit extra sensitive, though that 4k on the tach may feel accurate, there's plenty more to rev as the engine keeps going to 7800rpm where the stock "UP-SHIFT Light" will give u that needed nod to the next gear. The stiffer clutch pounces onward without hesitation and there's full consistency provided by the Tigerroad adjustable Clutch Master; allowing the clutch to be adjusted to grab high, med, or low off the floor (my personal favorite) with crisp and clean engagement every time. Thus Eliminating the funky wandering engagement of the self-adjusting stock Insight clutch master. Fixing another strange insight problem is weather proofing the roof rails via a well done and neat seam of silicone sealant along the sides of the roof. Noone even notices it but u will notice how dry the seat belts stay all year long in rain, snow, or ice eliminated the moldy smell that sometimes accompanies these cars (without this mod there can be as much as 3cups of water collecting behind the seats, just beside the battery box!).

The car can average 31mpg easily and monitored with the Scanguage 2 which is directly linked to the ECU via OBD2 in real time. It can also display up to 4guages at once but is most necessary for Water temperature which cannot be displayed on the stock dash. Fans kick on at an early 197 degrees Fahrenheit and the higher pressure radiator cap helps ensure efficiency is maintained. This Car is tuned on 93 Octane but is not running high compression pistons so can be run on 87 if needed. FCD works fine but is not needed as the car is at 65 LIfe-time MPG and climbing due to the Kswap

The Type S ECU provides Launch Control and 6th Gear Lock out while giving the ability to easily pass emissions with a bit of driving and getting sensors in ready status. As far as power and torque, I estimated the cars weight to be about 2200lbs with me in the car, a gross overestimation, so the virtual dyno output a estimated of 182 Wheel Horsepower. id say it's easily more, and the butt dyno estimates an easy 220hp to the crank. The car could be tuned again since the addition of the 6speed trans and K&N short ram with magnaflow exhaust, but for any and all tuning needs, the Hondata USB cable can be conveniently found via the glove box on the passenger side.
All rear spare tire components are intact and everything is in its stock position with the exception of the horn which was relocated to make room for the AC components. The AC was recently charged at the Honda dealership I work at and the Maintenance sheet added to the near 1inch thick stack that dates back to 400miles on the odometer way back in the ye ole year of 2000. the IMA system is obviously gone, making the car that much more reliable and the ABS was never really needed as there is no way for it to fully function with the larger RSX knuckles. Threshold breaking is very easy to achieve even in wet, the car stops very well, rarely coming close to lock brake lock up. With the absence of the IMA rear battery, a 10inch Rockville Sub-Woofer was put in it's place with a custom welded holder and rubber grommets ensuring it will provide nothing but pleasantly smooth bass without anything to stop ur groove. A bass control knob up front tones things down if u need to take a call on the Kenwood Excelon with BT and built in Mic. The only downside to the Kenwood is that the mic is built in, I was expecting it to have the external mic which i normally place on the steering column, but it does have a front facing USB load port. The car is amazing but does have minor small scratches and some low scrapes which I have touched up with OEM touch up paint. I have yet to wet-sand or polish it, except for the headlights. There is a small bend in one of the rims but its very hard to see and immobilizer is wired but not set up, it would probably take shipping the ECU and the programmed original key off to a company to do it. The trans is classic Kseries, 3rd gear snatches but no popouts or grinds, and besides that is not likely to blow up under this modest power. otherwise there arent many cons to the car, besides the fact that is is REALLY HARD NOT TO DRIVE FAST!!

$14,000 or closest to that, takes it. As with all Used Cars Sales, its up for Negotiation. If u want it, make an offer, I have my final number, u just could get lucky. Also I can consider trades for specific other cars and cash (i have been wanting an audi a8L D2 or D3), or if ud like to trade ur 5speed insight up, -$2,000 comes off our final agreed upon price.

The car is running Motul 300 gear oil in the trans, and Motul 0W20 in the Engine. Any oil consumption is minimal, much like an S2000 check it every other, or 3rd fill up. Id guess the engine has under 160k miles and Ive compression tested it between 167-172psi across all cylinders. leak down test is good and the only time it will have any trouble starting is if u stall out trying to start in second or just flop ur manual driving, then hondata needs a lil bit of gas to get going again (its been like that with every hondata ecu ive had and ive had 3, could be a single O2 thing).

Before the car is sold I will get smog check it again which will give the next owner peace of mind for 365 days, that really helpped me out when my friend did that before he sold it to me. A fresh oil change of Motul 0W30 will be in order as well. Lastly I will write up as much "HOW TO" pages as i can on how to service and even pull the Kseries if need be. The engine is a tight fit but there are ways to pull the trans, intake manifold, and even timing cover without pulling the entire engine. I would recommend this NOT be someones First car, and that the person buying it be experience with fast cars and wrenching. No work has to be done on it and it is by no means a project; but a complete turn-key, Tuned and finished car. There is room for personalization but id liked for my peace of mind that somone will not ruin it with blatant disregard or just refusing to take the time to familiarize themselves with the details of owning a modified vehicle. I want this to be someone's pride and joy as it has for me, this is my swan-song of fwd ksights and the very best of my abilities as a builder.
Thanks for looking, Thanks for Reading, and may someone find their perfection in what is waiting to be purchased.

That's a nice build. I've been checking out LHT performance over the last year and always thought it would be cool to have a car that looks, well, like an Insight but moves like an S2000. Good luck selling yours. I don't know if you've posted running and driving videos but it may help someone to make a more informed decision.

Someone's got to buy this car. It is such a great build.

Or OP needs to hang onto it and bring it to InsightFest this year.
Either way it would make for some great discussion on our Kswap panel this year.

? Huge Thanks, sir
I really didnt expect ppl to even take notice on here, I have been writing and posting and showing exactly how I built it on Instagram and few ppl have taken much interest... but then again instagram is a strange thing. kids post the same picture daily and have thousands of followers while ppl doing actually great things have zero exposure and following...
If u are on the instagram, i whole heartedly recommend checking out the posts about this build, they are super informative!
I do have some videos from the dash cam highway fun and even a video of when i took the car to "Fatman's invasion" on my instagram but i will try to post some here.
as for the s2k, i love mine, but its not aluminum and has far less usable trunk and then theres the fact that the power to weight is already maxed out, also 26mpg on 93 is pretty painful where as this car beats my tuned S in speed (theres no waiting for vtec to kick with a Kseries), lightness, space, practicality, and 31mpg while being quicker than the S with a far less high strung engine! I have a feeling the Ksights will keep becoming more and more popular as time goes on.

wow! thanks! I do love this car, i love the Insight perhaps more than the S2K in some ways. when u consider it was nearly hand built along side the first gen AP1's and NSX's in japan, it is very special. I actually prefer the Insight Digital Dash over the S2000's just because of the Bolder Digits and Dual Circle Tach display. Honestly the S2K number digits kinda look like microwave font
I would love to bring this car or my other K24 swapped insight to Insight Fest, but ive never known when it is or where!! I really wanna go!!
But truthfully I cant keep it, if i do, it will sit along side my S2K and be rarely driven; this thing needs to be enjoyed! I love the responses of ppl when the hood is popped, the pure excitement and mind blown expressions. Childlike smiles when the realize the sheer possibilities of it's power to weight!
if u have seen my other builds, u kno i have to keep pushing forward, this and the k24 swapped twin (well it actually looks like a 350z now, no longer twins...) are my last fwd ksights. i have to do something noone else is doing, and the next ksight I build will will not be fwd... but first, i must release this one into wild with sumone who will enjoy and claim this little Legend.

Great looking job. Well done.
It's a shame I can't buy it.

Something like this link might be your next project?
2002 Honda Insight - Honda Tuning Magazine

Good Luck with the sale.
Willie
hey, willie, glad to see u chime in on my thread, and thanks!
id love to sell it to if u could buy it, i know u could handle it! but u may know sumone else who can, be sure to spread the word :)
and wowww that article brings back memories, i remember that one by the mini owner and they put a j35 v6 in the back, and i think they wanted to turbo it. i kno theres another stripped down insight race chassis with full f1 style suspension, and also the LHT awd turbo ksight. but my next project will be a ksight, just rwd only from here on out

Where is this car located? There are visitors who may be interested but have no way to make contact. Before I became a member a car in Ohio was for sale with a Mima I would have loved to had it had no way of making contact. Also did not know my way around the Internet. So it's possible a visitor would want the car you might leave a phone number or some other means . I can't tell where anyone is from my system doesn't work right. I love the smell of other Peoples tires burning in the morning!

I have a 5 speed to trade, and 10K, but the air conditioning must work, because I live in Texas. Does it?
hey, Prum! I appreciate the offer!
I bought my very first insight "project Tron" from Texas, sight unseen about 5 or so years ago. cost just under $700 to have it shipped from Texas to Ohio!
i still have it, doesnt look anything like an insight now... and has a k24 in it (check out my garage on my forum profile )

The AC definitely works, it was the last thing i did before i finally decided to post the for sale, we put 1lb of refrigerant in it with the AC charge machine at the Honda Service where i work. The car was in the 70degree shop for a while while we evacuated the coolant and all the service techs crowded around it with the hood popped :D
verified it has no leaks and charged the system with about 1lb of refrigerant and cycled it to make sure the fans kicked on and it immediately put out cold air just as cold as the wintery weather that was right outside the garage doors! luckily this car was regularly dealer serviced through out its life and i have experience with wiring the AC in Hondata for Kswaps so the last piece of the puzzle was complete.

I whole heartedly appreciate your offer and would like to counter offer based on logistics. would u be shipping your car here and me shipping this one there? PM me

including some interior pics from when i was building the car on instagram
u can see the location of the seat heater/fans button on the side of shift console/cup holder.

My dream is to make more for sale soon

Those headlights are really cool
? thanks Natalya, The LED headlights are much more than cool
Theyre really Safe!! I Hate seeing Insights scrapped because a careless SUV driver or Truck did not see them. theres also the fact that a stock insight has a hard time moving to escape danger (this car lacks that issue )

These Lights provide enough Output to be glow vividly Luminous during even the Daytime, something that took me 3 different versions to perfect.
I want to make more of them and offer them for sale to inside owners. These prototypes are pretty much a finalized look, but i am looking for the right reflectors for a more OEM look on the final ones.
then id fix the terrible tail lights these cars have with modern honda LED look too!

more pictures, and a few from instagram

This car has reliably earned the 1320 achievement!

I soooo want this, have you had it at the track to post some times?
Actually, Yes! I took the car to "Fat Man's Invasion" at Thompsons Dragway in Ohio.
though ive done autocross, drifting, and a bit of road course; it was my first time ever doing Drag
my first ever run, i lined up against some very new bmw 328i or somthing, and had no idea those Lights go green so quick!!! bogged the start hard and proceeded to Run him down, bouncing off the revlimiter and chirping every gear!! but i let of wayy too soon and did like a 17sec run.

the next time i lined up against a fully stripped and prepped 1980 Rx7 with some crazy turbo rotary and drag slicks. I did a lil burn out, and he did a massively loud backfiring one... i reved up and spun a bit, but got a good launch on that very slick track, but i wasnt ready for 2nd to come up so quick and lost some seconds on the limiter. by then he left me in a few clouds of rich black smoke pulling a 11second run, and i finished a few seconds later bouncing that limiter and chirpping every gear hard.
my best time that day was
15.45 at 87.87mph, not bad for my second run ever, drag racing.

i really wished i had the shift light working back then, the limiter cost valuable seconds; but the shift light is so perfect now, id love to try again. i know i could shave off a few more seconds; i believe the car is absolutely capable of a 13second quarter mile and ill bet money on that!!!

sorry for the late response, ive been quite busy...
but i did have a proffessional photoshoot done on the car in all its un-detailed glory. I definitely have a few things to polish as far as cleaning and around the badging and maybe redoing the plastidipp in warmer weather, but it just shows how clean a car it was to start with.
with better pics the car will soon go live on a few other sites to expand the sale's reach.

$14k Price Drop, Shipping no longer offered

Not sure how to Edit the Title of the Thread
but I have just listed the car on the Throtl App.
good and bad news for those who are saving up for it,
bad news: the reach of the sale just expanded a whole lot more
Good news: theres a price drop!
$14,000 or Best Offer
this is because most offers i have recieved are willing to pick the car up themselves, which i would recommend rather than trusting something this Unique to a shipping company.

Also more pictures from the Proffessional Photoshoot!

still on sale

bump to the top :)
drove it a few days ago, still cant get over how cool the OEM shift light is!
really want to take the car to Import Face Off this weekend, but it looks like rain.
i may still go, just would suck to drive 5hours and not be able to run the quarter because of rain.
one thing that is for certain, this car is still up for grabs!

any help with posting a video would be greatly appreciated
Upload them to YouTube then post the link here.

It's a nice job, but I honestly think you will be lucky to get half your asking price.
Just the way it is, not many buyers for quirky modded cars like this..
People generally want an Insight G1 for the frugality and unique design/tech etc not for blasting into the sunset.
Good luck though.
