2000 Where's the Fuel Filter?

The fuel filter is located inside the tank. It is mounted just above the fuel pump on the bracket that holds the pump. It is a royal pain to get to, since you need to drop the tank. You also need a special tool from Honda to remove the pump retaining nut.

The service manual specifies that the filter is only to be replaced when flow suffers. The test they use to determine this is fuel pressure.

I just checked the service manual this morning. :) According to the diagram, the fuel pump is located below the filter. The pickup filter on the bottom of the pump is standard on almost every vehicle to keep chunks of gunk out of the filter. In general, EFI pumps cannot suck through a filter as they generate very little suction (aside from cooling, one of the reasons they are most often mounted in tank).
