Its mounted on the intake side of the pump just below the pump. The pumps sump is also designed as a centrifugal filter since the overpressure discharge is directed to spin the fuel in the sump. (the big pieces will not readily be able to "clog" the filter) It is accessible from the top (pump access cover in the IMA case) and replacement of the retaining ring is a bit tricky (no special tool required, but it would be easier with one). I pinched the gasket and caused a fuel odor problem the last time I was in there to fix a broken fuel gauge sending unit (part of the same assembly).Aaron Cake said:The fuel filter is located inside the tank. It is mounted just above the fuel pump on the bracket that holds the pump. It is a royal pain to get to, since you need to drop the tank. You also need a special tool from Honda to remove the pump retaining nut.
The filters basically a lifetime unit unless you add some contaminant.
HTH!
