Bought the car, ran it for 300 miles, and the head gasket blew. Removed the head and found part of the exhaust valve seat and spark plug bung had calved off, so head's junk. Engine ran well before that. Thought about putting a different head on it, but I don't want to put any further time into the car. I know these are rare, so I don't want to scrap it. I'll let you know everything I know from my limited time driving it.

1. IMA light is on constantly. Tried charging the hybrid battery through a grid charger in the back, but it didn't take. Was actually on my way to Kansas City to get the hybrid battery replaced when the engine gave up, so...divine intervention?

2. Speedometer worked intermittently after the first trip. I pulled codes off the engine for VSS output signal. Couldn't tell me which VSS since the vehicle has three - I think - but I bought one of both types; with and without the input shaft gear. You'll see them in the photos.

3. Once the speedometer started having issues, I noticed that the transmission felt like it was slipping. I'd apply the throttle, but it wouldn't gain any speed. However, whenever the speedometer started working again, the transmission worked fine. Fairly confident that replacing the faulty VSS will fix the problem, but I'm not an expert. Take what I say with a grain of salt.

4. Computer had codes for communication failure. Generic codes, don't recall the numbers. When I looked it up on here, I saw it was suggested that a dead hybrid battery would do that, so could just be tied to the IMA. Never got to find out.

Those are the issues I recall the car having before it died. Car is in cosmetically fair shape. Tires have plenty of tread left. Body is straight, paint fading on roof and hood. Black paint cracking along fairings and the plastic trim which flanks the windshield and roof panel of the car. A few nicks here or there. Hood has a dent where the emblem once was. Aside from that, body is in good shape.

Interior is fair. The headliner is starting to pull away. Dash panel has some weird mangling that happened on the passenger side near the air vent. Carpet has wear holes. Overall, pretty standard condition for a car of this age.

I replaced the driver's seat with a passenger seat that was in good condition. Doing this, I was not able to reuse the plastic trim pieces for the seat. I was going to swap the seat pads, but found out they used hog rings to attach it all together. Didn't feel like having the trim pieces on the seat was really worth going through that much effort, so just decided to run with the passenger seat as it was. I still have the driver's seat, so if you want to try your hand at re-upholstery, I'll include it for you.

AC worked great and blew cold. Radio worked. Power windows, lights, instrument panel, worked. Trip button on instrument cluster didn't do anything, but from what I've read, that's a common issue with these. Hatch release doesn't work, so have to operate with the key. Power lock doesn't work on the driver's side door, and has to be locked from the outside with they key.

Bought indexed spark plugs because I wanted to do the tune up right. They only have 300 miles on them, so they're still new. Indexed for a "B" style head.

Including a center console from an old Civic. Was going to install it as a center arm rest. You'll also get brand new transmission filters, VSS sensors, a grid charger, and a full gasket set for the top end of the engine.

Pretty much everything is there outside of the undercarriage panels. Those were gone before i bought the car. Take a look at the photos. I tried to capture everything in them, since I can only attach so many to this posting, just message me and I'll send you the others. Asking $1000.

Thanks.

Thanks, and no worries. 67357 is the zip. I have someone coming to look at it tomorrow, but if they pass, I'll keep you in the loop.
