Calling Peter Perkins . . .
Retirement? Who's to carry the torch?I have three on my drive at the moment.
I'm afraid they are very much on borrowed time here in the UK
The end is nigh and so is my retirement from the fold......

I might be interested in having a chat with you about your car 😬. I’ve only owned my first one for about a month, and I seem to have been infected by a strange bug!!My beloved 2001 Insight last night overheated in traffic and although it limped home after a cool-down, this morning it is flashing the engine light. I have had it since nearly-new, and it has been a reliable companion until this year. I had to replace the radiator in February and it had the cat stolen just before that. I am facing the decision that I have dreaded: I have to move on (but there is nothing worth replacing a G1 Insight with is there??)
Anyway, the car is in Cheltenham, UK at the moment though I may have to have it towed back to Oxfordshire this weekend as I need to get home. I would love someone to buy it to give it, or some of its parts, a continuing lease of life. Until yesterday it was running fine - albeit with a cheap cat converter and a crack in the sump. Lots of cosmetic issues. But if someone in the UK wants to take it on then let me know.
Sorry to hear this. I've had mine in the UK since nearly new (2002). It's just getting fixed and new batteries, but I think this is coming to an end. There are people in this small town (Aberystwyth), in their thirties, who remember mine from their childhood. 😊 We've done OK I think. My beloved 2001 Insight last night overheated in traffic and although it limped home after a cool-down, this morning it is flashing the engine light. Congratulations - I hope the new battery gives it a few more years! When the AA man came out to mine and had to record the mileage for his records he had to do a double take and said 'well it's done well for you...' - over 20 years with nothing but normal maintenance (and a battery replacement), and it was doing over 70mpg as routine.Sorry to hear this. Thanks for that information. If you can hold on to your Insights for a few more years, almost certainly you will find interest in the states where the 25 year import rule is currently preventing their import and where a RHD Insight would be a desirable novelty.
