2004 Floor Mats...Interior Color has changed

I just picked up my 2004 Insight a week ago, and I'm very happy with it! However, I am having minor issues with fit and/or color of OEM floor mats and cargo mat. I ordered the mats from an online source. I called them before placing the order, to make sure I was getting mats for the 2004, since the interior color is lighter than the 2003.

The driver side mat seems to fit, and has a grommet to fit over a floor mat anchor, but the car doesn't have a floor mat anchor. Is the anchor supposed to come with the car, or is it an add-on?

The passenger side mat seems a little too wide, and I think it's probably for a CVT instead of 5-speed. This problem will be fixed easily by an returning it for an exchange.

The only cargo mat that seems to be available (checking part numbers on other web sites and placing a call to Honda's 800#) is the same one that is available for all previous model years, so it doesn't actually match. It is considerably darker than the 2004 interior and floor mats. If it's the only cargo mat available, I guess I'll keep it, but is there any way to find out if there is a 2004 version of the cargo mat coming in the near future?

By the way, to my surprise, my 2004 came with a cargo net. (I had already ordered one of those, too.)

Welcome aboard. I think your the first 04 owner here. There should be an anchor kit with that comes with the drivers side mat. You take a knife and cut up the little flap in the carpet and there is a plastic anchor you push in to the hold then screw the mount in. If it didn't come with it I'd call and complain you didn't get one when it should have came with it. I've gotten two sets of floor mats and each came with a anchor kit. I personally don't know for sure about the passenger side, but I believe you probably have the wrong mat for the transmission option. I guess they must be different. It should fit in the space just perfectly, but you'll find you'll have to keep moving it back as it will wiggle it's way forward over time.

As fas as the rear cargo mat I'd be dissapointed if the only option available was the grey mat from our old style interior. I would hope they change it's color for the 04 soon. I would ask about it when you call about the anchor kit for the floor mat.

And the Insight's all come with a cargo net. In fact that is one reason why they have such a high list price. Wierd thing is the online places sell em for like $30 bucks. At the dealership my wholesale price on one is like $50 because it's a factory installed item rather than an optional acessory.

Anyways, welcome aboard. BTW, they didn't change the FCD to red did they? It's still green isn't it?

In the initial release of changes to the 04 line up it was supposed to be changing to red, but it seems they never did. Actually, I'm glad they didn't because that leaves just two different displays (5 speed and CVT) vs 4 different displays which makes replacment hopefully cheaper in the future.

That or they still had a large batch of LCD's with green displays hanging around and they didn't want to have to just keep em hanging around for no real purpose. I was curious because in the new dash picture with the new interior it shows it with a green FCD so I woundered if they changed it or not.
Then they were just using up their old stock of lcd's first, but I would think you'd see a new picture on Hondas web page long before they actually do the change. I honestly doubt that they will change the fcd color at this point.

BTW, I've been hearing rumors that a few 04's have been ordered and arrived here locally.
Hmmm, very strange. Here's what I'd say do. Take the grey one to an apholstry shop and see if they can make you one in beige then return the grey one. I doubt it would cost much more, if maybe not even less, than the Honda one. I mean all it is is a thick piece of carpet with a rubber bottom and a swen border right?
