I salesman at the local Honda dealer told me there are no new 2004 Insights available in the Northeast and that no 2005 models will be made. Is this true, or should I assume that he was just trying to push me into a Hybrid Civic he had available fo rimmediate delivery?

Such rumours have existed since I first considered buying an Insight in 2002. I was at the local Honda dealer 2 days ago and they could not even confirm that there was going to be a 2005 Accord hybrid! The salesman admitted that the customers often had more accurate info than they did. I suggest you try another dealership. The word on the net is that there will be a 2005 and that the Insight will be updated in 2006. Temple of VTEC has official Honda released photos showing the Insight, hybrid Civic, and hybrid Accord parked side by side.

This is probably close to the truth, as Insight production for the 2004 model year was stopped several months ago. This makes the Insight even harder to find than would normally be the case.

Rumors that "there will be no more Insights next year" have been persistent. There are reasons to disbelieve them w.r.t. the 2005 MY. The first reason is that the rumors have not been right yet. Other reasons I list below.

Hi Marc-

Welcome! Car salesmen try to sell cars and can not sell cars they do not have. There are many posts here such as yours (turning out to be bogus information on the part of the salesmen). Last week at the dealership I enquired and was told that later this month the local salesreps would get the scoop on the 05s. I suggest you inquire at your dealership again in a week or two.
