Hi Guys,

Two days back,I picked up my Honda Insight EX-2010 which came along with the four - Michelin Winter Tires. Since the spring is about to set in, I am on the lookout for All-season Tires.

I understand the tire size is 175/65R15 and the wheel/rim size is 5.5Jx15 ET51. Is it OK to install the tire size mentioned above on a rim witht he size of 5.5Jx15 ET45 ? Would an offset of negative 6mm cause any harm to the tires/car?

I apologize if this is a basic question, as this is the first time I am owning car.

Thanks in advance

And

https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wheel1=175-65-15X5.5ET51&wheel2=175-65-15X5.5ET45&fcl=50mm&wcl=30mm&scl=50mm&sr=0mm

Will give you some idea of possible offsets. I think 45mm offset on a 5.5" rim will work just fine. Probably even look a bit better, especially in the rear.

I think wider rims, even with the skinny tires, might be better. I'm thinking of going to 6.5" wide rims in 45mm or so offset, probably in 16" or 16" diameter to keep the wheel weight low. Probably will opt for 185 or 195mm tires though next time. The stock 175mm is a bit too skinny, I think good for fuel economy, not so good for traction...
