I got fuel for my 2010 Insight EX (97000 miles) on Sept 30. After driving 148 miles and after the car was sitting for about 3 hours when I next started the car the TIGHTEN FUEL CAP warning was on. I stoped along the side of the road and removed and retightened the cap (3 clicks!) but the light stayed on. I again stopped but this time shut off the engine and removed, replaced, and retightened the fuel cap. Again the warning message appeared and remained after driving another 13 miles returning home. Anyone have any ideas how to get the light to go out?

Addenda: After writing this post and returning home, I again removed the fuel cap and cleaned both the cap and the filler with WD40 and then replaced the cap, but the Tighten Fuel Cap light still came on when I started the car. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try disconnecting your negative terminal on the 12V battery for app. 15 seconds, then reinstall the cable and start engine..
