Original article here: Prime Mover: Toyota Maxes Out Tech and Style in the World?s Best-Selling Hybrid to Create the 2017 Prius Prime | Toyota

Here are the highlights of the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime:
-The Ultimate Prius with Toyota’s Most Efficient Hybrid Powertrain
-Industry Leading EPA-estimated 133 MPGe/ Class Leading EPA-estimated 55 MPG City
-Class Leading Standard Safety Systems with Toyota Safety Sense P
-Great Overall Vehicle Value – Class-leading Starting Price

"The Prius Prime can even optimize range by memorizing the driver’s stopping patterns on frequently driven routes and suggesting when to let off the accelerator. Available Predictive Efficient Drive with Predictive Deceleration Support collects daily driving data to predict points of deceleration and stopping. From then on, when the driver goes through a location in the database, the system indicates when to let off the accelerator and can apply assisted deceleration to help boost fuel efficiency."

"To help make extended EV mode driving range possible using Hybrid Synergy Drive, Toyota modified the system. For the first time in a Toyota hybrid, the system uses a “dual motor drive.” Toyota didn’t add another motor, however. Rather, a new one-way clutch engages both the generator (MG1) and electric drive motor (MG2) for drive force, the first time MG1 has been used for that purpose."

Definitely a bit less fugly than the 2016 Prius.

I also like the extended range/speed PHEV they've got going on there.

Still waiting for Honda to drop that sweet PHEV drivetrain from the new Accord/Clarity hybrid into something with a hatch, not a trunk.

Lots of bling.

Looks a bit more aerodynamic, but they omited geeky stuff like Cd and frontal Area.

The huge vents are intriguing. What function would they serve?

if you wanna get the new inductive charge pad and you only need 20 miles / 4 hour charge for all electric mode you're good to go.
plugshare should tell you where the inductive charge stations are or you can still juice the pack using the J1772 outlet at the regular charge stations.
learning the ins and outs of how to actually get that 20 miles of all electric trans is a decent part time job for even an advanced hypermiler.
Or if you only need (50 mpg - give or take) just push one of the hybrid mode buttons and basically decide if you want to wait or drive during warmup cycle.
good luck saving those pennies for that purchase yall

Yes, it is a good package.

Wonder how long it takes for the average owner to activate its most stunning feature:
Japanese toy Prius Transformer goes from car to bird.
