We just got this car a ittle over a month ago and have put 1600 miles on it including a 500+ mile road trip.

Even when using cruise control, even when driving city, or when turning off ALL features (including AC etc) we cannot get over 44 mpg in a best case scenario.

Long distance road trip going 60-70 mph highway we are getting 40 mpg.

I have yet to see the advertised 48-50+ mpg.

This is alarming, is it false advertising or a faulty car?

No crazy driving, safe and steady driving conservatively in econ mode.

No explanation for why the mpg cant go higher. I've reset one of the two trip monitors at each refuel while keeping the other trip monitoring the overall MPG. They both stay below 44.

Right now at the end of a 500 mile trip it reads 40 mpg.

If "48 highway" means driving 20 miles per hour under the speed limit then that is bs.

I'd appreciate some insight (pun intended) from some more knowledgeable people about this car and the advertised MPG.

Thank you for the help, the dealers just say deal with it basically.

All EPA "highway" testing is done at an average speed of just over 40MPH, never exceeding 60, all accessories off.

So, Yes, getting over 48mpg means driving slower.

I have driven MANY gen 3 insights, my record is 71mpg with cruise control set on level ground at 45mph.

Here are the numbers: https://www.epa.gov/sites/default/files/2015-10/hwycol.txt

Hypermiling can easily beat the epa estimates, driving it "normally" never will!

Winter blend of fuel also lowers the MPG.
Increase your tire pressure to the max. sidewall pressure adds the MPG in most cases.
Where you reside, altitude, terrain is also another factor.
Patience is your best bet.

I have had my 2020 for about a month. I commute to work 80 miles round trip and average 48 to 55 miles per gallon. I set my cruise control at 65 mph flat land driving. I understand that mpg is adversely effected by mountains or hilly terrain.
