I know you've mentioned it in your Thingiverse page already but for anyone that doesn't know/understand yet - DO NOT print this part in PLA filament, it will warp and/or melt altogether as temperatures inside the car can reach well above 130 Fahrenheit during hot summers. ABS, PETG, or Nylon should be the filaments of choice when it comes to this application.View attachment 90458
I'm not printing it anytime soon, but I've added a replica speaker grille to the thingiverse link. My cad software did NOT like me putting 1200 holes in something.
Should be a good step towards the goal of having printable grilles for the rear speakers, though.
As an aside, just printing the grille might be enough to avoid having to use the grille spacer, as I didn't include any of the backside's ribbing in the model.
I've been printing ASA myself. It's like ABS, but slightly higher temp range and does not fade from sunlight like ABS! Though, you pay more for it, of course.I know you've mentioned it in your Thingiverse page already but for anyone that doesn't know/understand yet - DO NOT print this part in PLA filament, it will warp and/or melt altogether as temperatures inside the car can reach well above 130 Fahrenheit during hot summers. There you go, didn't think of that one for some reason! I ordered my trunk release piece to be printed out of the Markforged carbon fiber reinforced nylon filament and so far two summers in and no issues (first time I printed it from regular PLA and it warped under summer heat causing it to fail).I've been printing ASA myself. At first glance, I thought this was an AR barrel nut. What's the print time like? Solid fill? Do you need the depth for the rear speakers? There's quite a bit of room behind the middle mat... maybe the gas tank filler tube is in the way? If not, you can make it quite a bit thinner.I've designed an adapter for mounting speakers
