I am good for now but, for future reference, am just asking if anyone knows of a good mechanic that knows my (our) Gen 1's? I am just north of Winston-Salem, NC (27050).
I'm quite leary about taking it to the local Honda dealer. I had my oil/filter changed there (my first since buying it) and they didn't fasten the splash shield pieces correctly, if at all, so that within a few miles a part came loose and was destroyed. (I bought a "one-piece" from Scott and don't want "Honda" to even touch it!!)

Working on an Insight is well within capability of any GOOD independent shop - except for the IMA system. Just tell them to stay clear of working on the orange cables and they are completely safe. If they are uneasy, tell them they can disable the high voltage battery by removing the small switch plate in the rear. Otherwise it is like most Hondas. Ask around your friends for a good mechanic and then go by and talk to them.:)
