When you buy a video game system or a computer or just about any other electronic gadget, there are a bunch of accessories that add optional cool features to the base product. Honda could offer this sort of thing for their hybrid cars.

For example, a plug-in factory MIMA system would be pretty cool. And it could be expanded to offer some of the "drive by wire" features that MIMA doesn't have, like "forced no-charging fuel-shutoff coast" or "forced auto stop" or "cruise control" or "hold off assist for hillclimb." I'm thinking of a little game controller kind of thing, or something that plugs into a dedicated place on the dashboard.

That way, "normal" people could just buy their hybrid and drive it, but hypermileage fanatics could pay another, say, $500 and get a set of additional features that give them more control over how it all works...

Hi Dougie,

Recently and beacuse of the milti posted MIMA threads, members asking what's MIMA, and the developer stating he could no longer keep up with all the seperate threads, MIMA has been consolodated here:

http://www.insightcentral.net/forum/vie ... 7&start=60

Please keep MIMA related topics in that thread. Others will be locked and *redirected* there.

Since this post is rather open ended as to other possibilites I'll leave it open for such.

But when you've got MIMA on your mind ;) please post there :p

Sincerely,

Such modifications are likely within the scope of third party add-ons. Drive-by-wire would not be that difficult to retrofit to a vehicle, and the software to run it would be relatively simple to implement.
