Accident Advice

My 2000 Insight was broadsided on the passenger side by a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Passenger side a mess, but they said it is fixable and no one seriously hurt. My question is, what about the batteries? Has anyone had experience. Should I ask the body shop to pull up the plate and take a look at them, or should I go to my dealer and have them checked? Perhaps it is not necessary at all to check them since they are on the opposite side?

Thanks for the advice on what to look for and ask for my repair. I was reassured when I next talked to the repair shop that they had already checked the battery compartment as well as the connections. They had also been in direct contact with Honda (luckily since the local dealer leaves much to be desired) and knew about the baking restriction for paint. They are going to ship my car to Indiana ( I live in Central IL) because of the aluminum issue and to get my car back to me in a couple of weeks. Thanks again.
