I want to replace my air filter (the ICE one, NOT the cabin one). Is my only option the oem one? I just want the filter, not a new system. I checked the fram web site, and they don't list a replacement.

P.S. I replaced the cabin filter. It had not been changed in the first 24k miles and as such I had to break the plastic bar. It sure felt strange. The filter was disgusting!

:D That proves the filter works! That disgusting stuff would go into your car interior or into your lungs if your car didn't have a filter. My My CRX doesn't have a cabin filter, climate control, electric windows, electric mirors, electric assist steering, antilocking brakes, remote entry, electronic engine lockout, and air bags. Hey, 15 years ago I thought the CRX was cool with 16 valves, mag wheels, an electric sun roof and a digital cassette deck. Actually, I still hesitate to part with it.

You might check out a WIX air filter #46499
Or an AC Delco #51-5YR

I think those are the correct numbers.

I believe most PEP BOYS stores have those brands.

As a last resort try NAPA, they have front brake pads for the Insight.

Hi,

I bought a filter in my local auto store and it was exaclty the same as the oem. The dealer price was $35 and I paid $15 (Canadian)
Out of 3 different local stores, one sells brake pads, the other has the filter and the other has nothing for the Insight.

Call different places.

I might mention I had a K&N in my car for a few thousand miles. I pulled it off one day and there was some fine dust in the air box. K&N claims that the particles it lets through are so small that they can float in a particle of oil and won't cause any damage, but it scared me enough to go back to the oem filter.

Now there is a filter that came to my attention while I attended this last years SEMA show.

They make one for the Insight and unlike K&N type filters they use woven cotton instead of cotton gauze. They're saying increased air flow while maintaining filtration down to 5 microns. Which, is better than most oil filters I think. I am probably going to order one when it comes time for a new air filter for me.

Rick, thank you for bringing this filter to my attention. I think I am going to get one.

The item number is 2324, and it came up. But when I go to the order page, the number is not listed. I emailed them about it. I'll try calling tomorrow if they are open. Let you know.

Do they have them available now? Last I looked they said it was "comming soon" when I emailed them asking about it.
The filters ARE NOT available yet :( . I spoke with someone :? this morning at the company and was given a number of a distributor where I could get one. He was misinformed  because I then recieved an email telling me the filter is still being designed  and that they are hoping to get a demo within a month. The filter, when it's available, should be $53.19, and the recharge kit $15.02. I'm hoping it will be available before my trip to Yellowstone in August :D .

I've been using K&N in my Insight for the last 50k miles or so and have had no problems. A couple weeks ago, I even checked to see if it let any particles through and discovered the filtered side of the airbox was literally squeeky clean. There's nothing getting through the filter. The prefiltered side of the airbox was very dusty.

Thats pretty much what they told me a few months ago when I inquired at green filter usa about a filter for the Insight. Worst comes to worst I will get to talk to some of their people at SEMA this year again. I'll see if I can get anything out of them if they don't have it by then, this will be October.
