Could I get a list of aftermarket rims that will work on the Insight? Gotta changeup after a couple of years. Yes weight is a factor but I know there are a couple of really light ones out there, I just don't know what they are.

and I like shiny objects :D

You are in luck,
Any 4x100 bolt circle rim that fits a civic will fit an Insight.

I just came back from Miami, those guys are all crazy about shiny Bling Bling down there...

Rims cost

How much were they and do they come in highly polished aluminum or thin chrome coating?

I heard Volk was doing a very very VERY limited production run of a color called mercury silver. Something to the effect of 10 sets for the whole US. It is just like the polished alluminum stock wheels in color. I think it would look very nice on any color Insight, for Red gun metal would look good too. I personally like the TE37 design.

<--- Really wants to be able to afford a set of Volks.

but will it fit under the rear wheel skirts?
The Largest size rim you can fit under the rear skirt is a 16x7 inch rim.
Largest tire is 205/40/16 if you want to retain the stock tire diameter.

Nippon Racing makes a lightweight rim in 14" to 16" which will be easier to get than the Volk rims.

Konig helium wheels are light weight too. I found the 15's weight about 10 pounds, couldn't find the 14's weight. While I deffinitely like the Volk's better, the Konig's would be much easier to get your hands on I'm sure.

Prices for rims???

How much are the Volk rims and what's the model number? What about other options? Did I hear someone say that ANY civic rim will fit in the back? I definitely need dollar amounts though.

Go to a good tire and wheel shop and ask them.
Lots to choose from.
Do you want performance or just better looking wheels?
14" OEM Insight rims weigh about 12 lbs.
Most 14" alloy rims weight 15+ lbs.

A few years ago, I searched around for some light weight wheels for a different car. Best "bang for the buck" I found were the Konig heliums. 15x6.5 wheel is 11.4 lbs, you can usually find a set on e-bay for ~380 plus S&H. Unfortunately I don't think they make a 14".

The Volk wheels are sweet but expensive, and 10 sets for the whole US?? those probably wont be cheap either.

This is a database of wheel weights:

http://www.wheelweights.net/ Some fairly accurate numbers. Also beware that some MFR's make a cast version of the light weight forged wheel...if you buy from an individual they may try and pass the cast off as forged, or simply not know the difference. IIRC, "buddy club" was one wheel MFR that did that.
