Thats awsome! Why don't we get neat animations or commercials from Honda like that in the states?

That's great stuff! Thank you for informing us about the advertisement.

After watching the short film, I think this really wouldn't conform to the current image of Honda USA. While many Honda cars, comparing same classes of vehicles, have relatively good gas mileage and higher standards for emissions, the US campaign has always focused more on technology and quality. And according to auto industry news, the current advertisement campaign will now highlight the safety efforts of Honda. (some of you may now have seen the new Honda commercial about its safety test labs.)

This short film focus mainly on environment-friendly efforts of Honda, which in the US, never really worked as well in terms of selling cars in advertisement... well, not on TV advertisement anyways.

I've been thinking about car advertisements lately, and I've noticed a slight change in the trend of advertisement. In the past, the ads mainly trying to sell the car; the features, the excitement, the ability to go anywhere in the world, etc. I've now noticed that as there are less and less niche features and/or excitement that can be distinguished amoung various cars, the ads are now selling more on how much the owner, or the would-be owner will LOVE the car.

VW showing the gushing love people have for their cars, once they have test-driven it. Jeep Liberty with the with the girl painting about what her heart desires. The sleeping couple who try to wake up earlier to be the first to drive the Mercury. Of course, there are the music-videos-turn-into-commercials from Mitsubishi. I know that it seems like it's nothing new, but for many new ads now, the features are no longer the selling point.

Anyways, until "loving the environment" equates higher car sales, I think ads like this probably won't make it to US. Honda will still continue having the "educated person" voice-over like all their other commercials.

Yes, sadly. Rather than this fun happy humor with a message kind of thing, the American audience gets fed images of SUVs driving over flowers and parking on them, no SUV is ever seen making friends with happy bunnies.

I personaly prefer the fun and happy ads vs. go to the wilderness and 'park you SUV with the lights on and a generator in the back' kind of messages. But, that's just me!

That Honda campaign for the new diesel engine is very much needed. Most people have alot of negative ideals about diesel engines. Which is from the crappy diesel cars that GM tried to make in the 70's and 80's. And the noisy trucks.

My only concern with the honda diesel like all small diesel engines is the EGR system. VW sure didn't get the design right and they have been making diesel engines for a long time. Its not really the EGR's fault. The CCV crank case vent allows for small amount of oil mist to be in the intake. That oil mist turns to a baked on crude once it hits the high temp gases from the EGR.

I would imagine that the Honda Diesel would create a cult like following. Just like the VW with a TDI engine. I know that I will be keeping an eye on the Honda diesel for my next car.
