Hi All,
I've been monitoring the site and this forum for a while, and really appreciate InsightCentral, all those who have posted.
This past Friday I bought a sanitary 01 in Silverstone Metallic with 29K and the balance remaining on the 100K American Honda warranty.
My first stop (literally) was a mobile audio dealer where I set about to try to address some of the autosound issues discussed in this forum.
I had them install an Alpine CDA-9831 system. In addition to great sound, it's brushed metal finish matches the car dash, and it has a feature that allows you to match the stereo's display colors to the car's instrument panel display colors.
I had Eclipse SE 8363's put in the front doors. They took a second set of the same speakers and put together surface mount boxes with quick-release connections so I can stow them quickly. They put velcro pads on the bottom of the boxes so I can move them and they grip the deck wherever I place them.
I'm really pleased with the sound and it masks the drone of the Potenzas nicely.
My other vehicle is an extended cab longbed pickup with a canopy, so you can imagine how freeing it is to drive the Insight. Over the weekend I've averaged 66.7 mpg with a fair amount of highway driving.
Like so many of you, while considering the car an engineering marvel, I rue the day Honda elected not to add cruise control. That is my next project.
Again, my thanks to the many contributors to this site.
Gary
PS: This is a bit corny, but I tried that Mr. Clean AutoDry that's supposed to eliminate the need to dry the car. It worked well. I timed myself, it took 6 minutes to wash the car and it dried by itself in another 15.
