Hey All - After almost 3 years (48K) of trouble free use of my Insight, yesterday after pulling into a parking lot, my passenger side window would not work, up or down. It was down about 6 " from the top, warm day. Drivers side is OK, as are the power door locks. I have checked the fuses - the fuse marked for power windows and power steering are both 40's. I swapped them just to make sure, same thing. Even though I'm not mechanically inclined, I figured maybe a plug had come loose, so I removed the door panel, all seemed to be secure. There is a piece of plastic that covers almost the entire innner door, sealed all around. Was afraid to remove it, might not be able to re-seal it. I could see the bottom of the window and tried to move it up, but no go. I've also grabbed the top of the window and tried both up and down, won't budge. If I could just get it back up to the top (or close to it) for security and weather reasons, I'd be happy. Will need to save the $'s for the repair.

I've read the post here http://www.insightcentral.net/forum/vie ... highlight= Relulators are mentioned, where is it? What do I look for?

Any ideas what else I could look for? or a way to move the window up? Had a friend tell me it's likley the motor, and with no more warranty I'll bet a repair will be $400 - 500 easy.

We have seen Bluebelle's passenger window slow to a crawl and nearly seize up once. We are going to try the lube trick with Silicone.

My feeling whan pulling on the window was that if the motor mechanism were to actually fail completely, it would lock the window in whatever place it was at failure.

I expect this has happened to yours, and no amount of manual pulling with fix it so you need to bring it into the shop.

It probably would be worth trying to get it paid for by Honda, even if out of 3 years, because it appears to be a problem which is more common with Insights than it ought to be!

My passenger window stopped about 6" from the top once. What I did was while holding the window switch up, I pressed hard and pushed up on the window, and it went up. It wasn't easy, but it went up. I got it lubed at Honda and have not had any trouble since.

Thank's for the input guys. Bfivelover, I tried your suggestion, still won't budge. Look's like after I come back from a trip overseas in Nov I'll look at my finances and see what I can do.

Thank's again ......

Isn't there a switch that disables the passenger side operation? Did you check that? That got me several years ago....
