Looking goodThere's a few threads on LED headlights on Gen 2s:
Personally, I've been using these as low beams for 11 months now with no issue:
They have fans though, so there is a faint hum they're on. LEDs as brights/DRLs are a little tricky because they can throw error messages on the dash. There's some good discussion & links about this issue in the first thread linked above.
Here's a shot of my OPT7 LEDs on with a pair of Optilux XY Extreme Yellow Halogen bulbs activated as brights.
I'm really happy with my lighting setup. No one has flashed me either.
TBH the stock lights on the insight are rubbish, main beams absolutely crap, especially if Luke me driving a lot of rural roads during autumn/ winterI didn't upgrade for LED because it will fail on our NCT inspection test, but this stock HID is already bright enough with cut off and crisp lines.
Well that's great to hear,I've used osram nightbreakers in the past ,made a huge difference but when u can post up a few pics/ instructions please,I'm v interested, and thanksLED Headlights
Long time lurker, first time poster. I bought these "CougarMotor" LED headlights from Amazon, which are 4.3 stars, but Fakespot grade = C:
I guess I need more posts before I can post links, but I got the "CougarMotor LED Headlight Bulbs All-in-One Conversion Kit - H11 (H8, H9) -7,200Lm 6000K Cool White CREE - 3 Year Warranty."
They were super easy to install. Some users mention the fan noise can be heard when the engine is stopped, but I could not hear it. These made a HUUUUGE difference in nighttime visibility, but my stock halogens were pretty old. Even though Fakespot grade = C, they come with a 3 year warranty and were only $44 + tax. Some users complain of them failing somewhere around the 6 month point, but I'm taking my chances. I wish I would have upgraded much earlier. I also replaced my side marker lights, parking lights, tag lights, and cargo light. Next is the rest of the interior lights.
Hello.I am currently using LED,s for dipped headlights. When and if the main beams fail I will replace with LED,s.I did a bit of research on converting luminescence values against original light values.Bought them from ebay. Roughly about £16. I drive with dipped lights all the time.First set lasted 3 years.Original bulbs gave a pretty crap light. Plugged straight in with no problems.Look out for brightest values as they do differ with different makes. If you have used LED replacement headlight bulbs on a second generation insight please post your experience. Please include specific brand of LED bulbs used and price if you remember. Thanks! Im looking to upgrade.
NCT/ mot failure ,I know of no one who has led mains on their Honda insight, without problems, unless I'm reading the wrong material last few yearsHello.I am currently using LED,s for dipped headlights. When and if the main beams fail I will replace with LED,s.I did a bit of research on converting luminescence values against original light values.Bought them from ebay.
