When you put these items back on do you use any gasket sealant. And if so, what do you like to use?
ERG valve
ERG plate
Transmission pan
Oil pan
Thanks,
John

No sealant except for the oil pan.

The oil pan has 5 gaskets associated with it. However the long sides of the pan are sealed with Honda Bond HT.

Update: I just figured out the it can be pulled towards me, not pushed. Maybe this will help someone else someday.
That is normal.

The problem with the EGR valve is usually in the film resistor and wiper inside the cover. The film wears out and the electrical signal gets intermittent and "notchy." It has been discussed many times. If you use the Google Custom Search bar at top left you should be able to find some of these threads.

A trick replacement is, I think, an EGR from an Accord. Cheaper and more readily available in junk yards. You'll have to search for exact years and engine types, or maybe someone remembers.

Here's a link to one talk about which alternative EGR valve to use: https://www.insightcentral.net/forums/problems-troubleshooting/121343-p1491-w-accord-egr-valve.html#post1403393

Most people use Accord valves, I think early 2000s from a 4 cyl. But one person says the Odyssey valve is a better match - there's a side-by-side pict at the linked post... For a lot more threads simply search for "accord" in the title using the IC search feature.

...Here's a link to I think the thread where the idea originated, a lot more specifics regarding years and models: https://www.insightcentral.net/forums/honda-insight-forum-1st-gen-discussion/24683-new-egr-valve-option-1999-accord-egr-works-perfect-insight.html
