In my new 2004 Insight the battery charging indicator does not come on when braking, only when cruising along. This seems like the regenerative braking to charge the battery is not working. Is this normal behavior?

Thanks,

Paul

Don't push the clutch in while slowing down.

Also, if you are always giving it full assist, the batteries may be getting too warm, and the onboard computers are deciding to limit recharging being that charging also heats the batts.

Thanks! It was the clutch thing. Still getting used to the radically different method of hybrid driving. This site is excellent! I didn't realize there were so many Insight enthusiasts.

I can't imagine owning a car like the Insight and not being an enthusiast. It's just too rare, quirky, and specialized.
