Ok I have had my insight since 2000 and I have not seen or heard anything about the availability of a bike rack. I found some guy on the net who rigged his own hitch for his insight - bu this seems a little drastic to me. Has anyone has any luck with "universal" trunk/hatchback racks? If so PLEASE let me know what you did. Thanks!

bike rack

Search the forum and you will see that Saris makes one that has been used (pictures available in the forum) and Delta Hunch Rack is another. The issue always is whether the car was ever intended to have weight/force applied to specific areas (Saris - roof, Hunch Rack - rear windshield).

I have a Saris "Bones" rack that works if you do not care for the top "foot" sitting on glass. There is not much weight on that part and if the straps are cinched up well, it does not bounce.

Thanks. After I posted that I saw the information on the Delta Hunch rack. Unfortunately there are no stores that carry them in LA. What about the saris rack, do you just mount it to the rear hatch like the hunch rack?

It has three feet, two sit on top of the bumper, the third sits on the trunk lid, hatchback, what ever you have. I bought it originally for a 98 Mustang. I'm using it this weekend on my Element.
