I figured that I should look at some of the common maintenance items that I have been neglecting while working on the MIMA mod.
I changed the ground straps, which were a little frayed, but were mostly ok, and took a look at the air filter, and wow the complete air filter box was stuffed full on the intake side with fiberglass insulation. Turns out some mice decided that they needed a camper, and adopted the air box. It was packed full.
The clean side of the filter was perfectly clean, so no crap got into the engine.
I had just had the car emmission tested and it passed with no problem, and had just ran a datalog file on the system. I will be running some further datalog files today, and will be anxious to see if there is any noticeable difference.
What would the expected effect on MPG and performance be for a really blocked air intake?
