I stopped at Autozone this evening to get a new set of Bosch wiper blades. They now have three different styles(&prices). I bought one of the Bosch Icon wiper blades for the driver side. It is very aerodynamic. You can see the diffence here:

I will test it out over the next three days. We are supposed to have 3" to 5".

I put a set on our BMW just before our little jump to New Orleans during the holidays... and they are incredible. They handle light mist, heavy downpours, and anything in between silently and efficiently. They even clean off dried-on bug carcasses after a few wet passes, the kind that normally stays on the windshield forever and makes the water streak in an arc right in your line of vision... I am incredibly impressed. They seem to be quite durable, they look great and are installed, literally, in a snap. Getting them for the rest of our fleet this weekend, as a matter of fact. $20 a blade at Pep Boys, my highest thumbs-up recommendation... :D

I could sure buy a bunch of really-nice Seikos for what I paid for my Submariner, too... but if paying the least was the name of the game, we'd be driving Kias or Hyundais instead of a BMW... or an Insight! ;)

You have a good point, but... these blades are so far beyond the normal metal-frame-and-rubber-squeegee wipers in quality and performance, I feel they merit the difference in price. Go see one in person and report... :D

Bosch Blades

BB,
I agree 100%. I just installed them and while it hasn't rained in the past hour since I installed them, we'll have to see how they work. If they work as well as they look, (and as easy as they were to put on), then the whole stable (4 cars), gets a set. Including the Beemer. Wish they made them for a motorcycle screen. :)
For you hypermilers, they are very aerodynamic and a few oz. less in weight, you might get 1/10 of a mile more MPG. :D

Bosch wiper blades

The Bosch Icon wiper blades come in 2 different markings on the box, an "A" and a "B". After studying them I noticed their was no difference in the style of them, they both are identical in shape.
Thinking one would be for a wiper that swings the opposite direction I decided to call Bosch since it lists the A for the drivers side and B for the passenger side on the Honda. They said the B is more tightely sprung, so as to allow it to follow the curve of the passenger side of the windshield.
The sizes that will fit as replacements are 21A (21 inch) for the drivers side, and 19B (19 inch) for the passenger side. Shorter ones of course will fit. Their computer does not have the Insight in its database (wonder why), but the Civic is exactly the same length as the Insight and it is listed. I measured the stock blades and they are 20 5/8" for driver, and 18 5/8 passenger.

I bought the 22a for the drivers side, since the #'s for the insight on their other models, had the 22's for the dirvers side, got the 19b for the passanger side and the 17a for the rear window. Everything works fine.

Thanks, RobMason!

I didn't even notice the A and B designations... and sure enough, I noticed the passenger side blade didn't quite hug the last inch or two of the windshield like it should. I will go get the B 19" blade for the windshield today, and put the A blade on the hatch wiper (which I totally ignored when I bought the blades, since I hardly ever use it and I forget it's there).

BTW, the driver's side wiper will handle up to a 24" blade (which is what I have there), for just a few extra square inches of wiped area for you OCDs (like me)... :D

FWIW, Honda is using this wiper blade design (if not the actual Icon blades) on the '07 Civic hybrid. I noticed my neighbors Volvo XC90 also has the Icons as well. They work like a charm. I just got a set for my '06 F250, too. We've gotten some serious snows here in Colorado this winter and the old style hinged-style blades Ford put on the truck were next to useless. Even the Bosch versions froze up. These simply work great, worth every penny.
